Raidan expected to see a massive, giant Ice Wolf. Instead, shattering all his expectations, the moment he stepped onto the 10th floor, a small, snow-white Ice Wolf greeted them.
Though it was small and cute, it had a small mark on its forehead shaped like a half-moon. Furthermore, it possessed three distinct tails.
[ Dungeon Boss: Three-Tailed Ice Wolf - Level 12 ]
[ Threat Level: High ]
It was not alone. Five giant wolves quickly stepped out of the shadows, surrounding the little one protectively. Each one was five meters tall and as broad as a bear.
"Could it be that this dungeon’s boss is female? And those five are her mates?" Raidan guessed.
"Spot on," Nia confirmed. "They don’t like it when someone threatens their mate. Which means we’re facing five Alphas and their Omega."
Raidan scratched his head. "I didn’t expect to meet a harem of wolves here. This makes things a little tricky. I don’t really want to kill them."
Nia laughed melodiously. "Hehe, if you’re feeling pity, then I guess you’ll just have to sacrifice yourself," she joked.
Her tone became serious soon after. "Jokes aside, you should abandon all compassion or kindness inside a dungeon, Apollo. They will eventually respawn, but you won’t."
"I know... I was just trying to lighten the mood."
Raidan flexed his muscles while gripping his sword, readying himself for the fight.
At that exact moment, something moved.
Whoosh!
The first Alpha (No. 5) launched into the air with extended claws, aiming to tear Raidan and Nia to shreds.
Nia leapt away like a cat, pure instinct.
Raidan immediately activated [Cloud Step].
He sprinted on air, getting behind the Alpha in one beautiful arc.
Thud!
He managed to hit the back of its massive head from above, creating a heavy sound like the resounding impact of bone against hard wood.
Just from the sound alone, it could be said it was a critical hit.
Awoooh!
With a painful howl, it staggered backward, then fell flat onto the floor.
[ Exp +100 ]
The notification confirmed the kill.
Raidan had killed the Alpha in just one strike, which was a new record.
Even Nia was left speechless, wondering how strong someone had to be to pull that off. She could do it too, but seeing it come straight from a newbie was entirely different.
Raidan landed on the ground, completely calm.
His Attack Power and Agility now exceeded 40 points, which was almost four times that of a regular human. It was all because his custom quests rewarded him with extra attribute points.
In terms of strength and speed, he wasn’t far off from an Alpha at all. So what if it had a massive body? Its weaknesses were completely exposed.
He just have hit them.
That being said, if he had sword of steel or iron, this would have been much easier.
"AWOOOOH! GRRRRR!"
The remaining four Alphas let out a unified roar that shook loose giant icicles from the cavern ceiling.
The sudden death of their packmate had completely enraged them.
Nia jumped into the air, did a summersault, then dove down with her deadly piercing Claws.
Slash!
Raidan immediately opened his system interface with a quick thought, then created a quest.
[ New Quest Created: Clear the 10th Floor Boss Room ]
[ Objectives: Defeat the 4 remaining Alpha Ice Wolves and the Three-Tailed Ice Wolf Boss. ]
[ Rewards: 2000 Exp, +4 ATK, +4 AGI ]
Combined with the base experience points from the monsters themselves, this would perfectly bridge the 3,000 EXP gap he needed to reach Level 10.
After it’s settled, Raidan quickly came back to focus, noticing another Alpha charging at him with full ferocity.
Wherever it walked and jumped, frost was left behind.
Before it could attack, Raidan dodged using Cloud Step, as light as a feather.
However, at the same time, the Alpha released a roar. "Awoooh!"
With it came a breath of freezing ice. Toward Raidan.
When it touched his legs, both of his feet froze, momentarily immobilizing him and pinning him to the ground.
Feeling the looming danger, he instantly bashed the ice with his sword, breaking it with pure force.
Bang! Crash!
By then, it was too late.
"Grrrr!"
Another Alpha wolf rushed in a blur of speed, coming dangerously close to biting his shoulder.
Raidan’s heart pounded, feeling the adrenaline rush.
He wasn’t sure if he could get healed a second time, so there was no way he would allow it to wound him again.
Without delay, he activated [Cloud Step ], sprinting upward like a galloping horse, far beyond their reach.
But, he couldn’t walk on air forever.
So, when it was time to land, he began to look for an opening.
Unfortunately, all three of them were alert.
Finding none, he exchanged a glance with Nia, who had just taken down the second Alpha wolf.
Nia understood his signal perfectly.
And thus, with a burst of incredible speed, she dove right under the three remaining Alphas that were waiting for Raidan to drop.
"Take this!"
Her silver claws gleamed with strong magical energy as she ruthlessly slashed their back legs.
"Awooo!"
The massive wolves howled in sudden pain, and their frost-covered legs gave out instantly, causing them to collapse onto the icy floor in a tangled mess.
This was the exact opening Raidan needed.
Gravity pulled him down fast.
He channeled all his strength onto his simple wooden sword, targeting the skull of the Alpha directly beneath him.
Thwack!
The wooden sword struck right behind the monster’s ear, hitting a spot where the bone was the weakest.
[ Critical Hit! ]
[ -150 ]
[ Exp +100 ]
Without stopping to celebrate, Raidan pulled his weapon out. Next, spinning on his heels, he swung horizontally at the last fallen Alpha.
Nia had already crippled it, making it an entirely defenseless target.
Thud!
Another heavy strike ended the beast’s life, turning its massive body into experience points.
Now, the 10th floor was eerily.
Only the Boss remained.
The small Three-Tailed Ice Wolf stood alone at the far end of the cavern.
The little white wolf looked at the vanishing bodies of its mates calmly. It didn’t show fear, it didn’t run away.
Flash!
All of a sudden, that half-moon mark on its forehead began to shine with a gorgeous silver light.
"Watch out, Apollo! It is going into an enraged state. Do not let its small size fool you."
Her warning was truly appropriate.

The entire underground trembled as if struck by an earthquake.
