Chapter 11: Ch 11: Settling Down
Nia guided him to the main hall.
Outside, there were barely any signs of grandeur or ancient lineage; however, the space inside was vast.
Multiple temple-like structures, averaging 200 meters in height, pierced through the sky.
Additionally, there were hundreds of people wearing Faceless Masks just like Raidan and Nia.
Nia told him that although it wasn’t compulsory to wear masks inside the Shrine, once a follower went outside for various purposes, they were required to wear them.
As for why, she didn’t explain.
He wore his mask inside just to be safe. After all, he was an illegal infiltrator here.
Those who were members of this Shrine were called Followers of the Faceless.
And now, Raidan was heading to become one. It was a completely different matter that he currently had no intention of following a deity.
He simply wasn’t the type to worship anyone, even if they were some kind of fabled God.
Leaving all that aside, Nia took him to the Temple of Admission.
Here, a lot of newbies sign up as followers of the Faceless God.
Settling Raidan in the line, she explained,
"Not just anyone can become a follower of the Faceless. The masks choose them from all over the Realm and guide them to this place to follow his Divine Path."
"You should consider yourself lucky, Apollo. Compared to other shrines, our shrine has the most amount of freedom. You can take on assignments, earn gold coins, and explore outside. Just one condition: you must wear someone else’s identity."
Raidan gave her a small thanks for the heads-up.
Meanwhile, the line shortened until he stood at the very front.
The bald man there gave him an incredulous look after seeing the creepy mask.
It was very unusual by the standards here.
Nevertheless, he took a paper and gave it to Raidan.
"Fill it out, and then submit it there."
Only then did Raidan notice there was another counter, as the sharp corner had blocked his sight.
"Understood."
After taking the yellow paper, he reappeared before Nia, looking confused.
"What’s wrong? Do you not know how to write?" she asked calmly, one eyebrow raised.
All the followers must know the ancient spell language; otherwise, how would they learn the incantations for spells?
Raidan shook his head, confirming her guess.
The words on the paper were strange. He couldn’t understand them at all.
Nia exhaled a heavy sigh.
"Then that is a massive problem. I can help you with this one, but you must learn the spell language as soon as possible. Understand?"
He could only nod like an obedient child.
Honestly, he appreciated Nia’s help a lot. Without her help, he would still be wandering around the outer court.
Her behavior and manners were also good.
She was very kind.
She patiently fill up the form, writing down the basic details such as his name, background, and his goals and such.
After submitting the form, they had to wait for almost an hour.
Only then he was given a room key, an identity plate, and a set of ceremonial robe for prayer times.
From there, an acolyte guided them to his room.
"Alright, Apollo, since you’ve got your room, I should take my leave now," Nia said before the door.
"Thank you for your help," Raidan said back honestly.
She shrugged and left.
Raidan was now all alone.
He stepped inside.
It was a modest-sized room with one attached, old-style bathroom.
Raidan set his wooden sword aside and finally slumped onto the bed, his coarse cloth shoes still on.
He was very exhausted.
As such, he immediately drifted off to sleep.
Before that, he created a quest regarding sleeping without snoring, which in turn promised to give him 300 EXP.
He slept for hours, and he didn’t snore.
When he woke up, it was afternoon.
The 300 EXP went into the bag.

"I need to reach level 10 as soon as possible so that I can assign quests to others and gain returns up to 100x. That way, I can grow stronger," he told himself.
With that goal in mind, he decided to get some food before heading to the city to look for interesting challenges to level up easily. ƒrēewebnovel.com
After respectfully asking around, he learned the location of the dining hall.
Food wasn’t free here.
One piece of bread and a small honey jar cost him exactly 20 silver coins.
He paid the price from the initial 10 gold coins provided by the shrine.
100 silver equal to 1 gold coin, so he could eat 50 meals with ease here.
He wouldn’t have to worry about earning money for half a month if he didn’t splurge it on useless things.
After eating, Raidan decided to head out as planned.
However, just as he was about to leave, the familiar face of Nia crossed his path.
She seemed to be going out as well.
"Apollo, are you also going out?" she asked while putting on her cat-shaped mask.
Raidan gave a nod. "I thought I should venture out into the city to get familiar with the place since I’m new here."
"Great! I am going inside the dungeon. I can show you around before that."
Her words came out distorted from behind that mask.
"Dungeons? They exist here, in this city?" he asked while seamlessly putting on his own mask.
"Of course there are."
They both started walking down the stairs while conversing.
"In Vanir, there are dungeons for both beginners and veterans. However, you’ll need a dungeon pass from an Adventurer’s Guild if you want to go in."
"I see..." Raidan understood. It was just like all the games he had played.
Dungeons could be a suitable means for him to grow stronger faster.
With double EXP, he would level up like a rocket.
In no time, he would be level 10 and could assign quests to other players like an NPC and earn those juicy returns.
This world was finally becoming interesting.
