Chapter 32: Meteor
’’Hello?’’ Vyral couldn’t help but smile.
The demon, called Gerald, shrugged before replying.
’’Since you’re not one of them, I’ll give you a chance. Join us.’’
His voice lowered as he tightened his grip on the dungeon core.
’’Join us or die. The Demon Guild will treat you well.’’
Vyral blinked several times, surprised by the situation. He never thought this psycho would try to recruit him. Realizing this was the perfect opportunity to buy time for his clones to earn points, he cleared his throat.
’’Why? Give me a reason. What does your guild have to offer me? I’m an ambitious man. Why would I join a bunch of spineless losers?’’
Gerald nodded in understanding.
’’Very well. You’re the same kind of person as me.’’
He added evenly before raising two fingers.
’’I’ll give you two reasons.’’
’’First, you’ll receive a blessing. Let me explain. My guild has a blessing system granted by the Demon God, ranging from F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, to SSS Rank. With a blessing, your skills can be upgraded and gain random attributes, just like mine.’’
He summoned a black flame in his palm. The fire emitted a bizarre power and was clearly stronger than Vyral’s.
’’Originally, it was just a Rank-F skill without anything special, but now it’s a Rank-E skill with an attribute that increases XP gained from killing monsters.’’
He chuckled as a deranged smile appeared on his face.
’’And that’s only an F-Rank blessing. It already boosted my skill this much, so I wonder what I could do with an SSS-Rank blessing?’’
’’You’ll never obtain that kind of power if you stay on their side. Those bastards draw their strength from genetic codes and powerful backers. It was never fair. A cursed system that I want to destroy.’’
’’But if you join us, your hard work will be rewarded. My side values only fairness and effort. Everyone starts from the same line.’’
Gerald grinned.
’’Charming enough?’’
Vyral scratched the back of his head, looking deeply sympathetic. Indeed, he was already charmed by Gerald’s words. Vyral himself had lived in an unfair world like that. Sometimes, he wanted to curse fate and ask why he had been born with nothing. His life as an orphan had never been easy.
He once thought that working hard was enough, but it wasn’t. Even if a few people could make it, not everyone could. Of course, he belonged to the majority.
Gerald smirked when seeing the hesitation in Vyral’s eyes. He knew it. After all, they came from the same source – scavengers.
He added,
’’Second, wealth. Don’t underestimate us. After 300 years of growth and development, we can compete on equal footing with the corporations of the real world. Right now, we’re just waiting for a signal to begin the campaign.’’
’’See? Just join us, and you’ll have everything. As soon as you join, you’ll have to take a loyalty test. There are two conditions: kill your relatives and submit to a control spell. Maybe killing someone for the first time is hard, but you’ll get used to it. You might even become addicted to it. Being a scumbag isn’t as bad as everyone thinks.’’
’’I see a lot of myself in you. We’re alike. Join us. We’ll be bros.’’
Gerald smirked as he crossed his arms. He was so confident that Vyral would agree right then, yet Vyral’s next sentence made him frown.
’’No.’’
Gerald clenched his jaw in anger and roared,
’’WHY? YOU’RE A GOBLIN. YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING WITH THAT TRASH RACE. YOU WILL DIE! COME ON, JOIN US.’’
’’MY SIDE IS THE BEST PLACE FOR YOU.’’
...
Vyral clicked his tongue in annoyance as he opened the evolution list. Without hesitation, he bought a skill he had been waiting for a long time.
Mystic Energy: 702,23 → 2,23
Meteor (Rank A) Lv.1 – 700 Mystic Energy.
Calls down a massive fire meteor from the sky, causing a huge explosion on impact and dealing 100% Fire Damage to the target. Each use consumes 90% of the user’s Mana.
’’Dude, maybe we’re alike. Maybe I would’ve chosen the same path if I were in your situation. But unfortunately. I already found a thigh to cling to.’’
In an instant, Vyral activated the [Meteor] skill.
[Your Mana]: 93% → 3%
A massive meteor engulfed in flames appeared in the sky and began plummeting downward. Its immense size was so overwhelming that its shadow covered all the monsters below.
The air grew suffocating as the meteor exerted an invisible pressure on every living being beneath it.
Gerald’s jaw nearly dropped at the sight of the meteor. His face was filled with shock and disbelief.
At this rate, everyone would die if it hit the ground.
’’This magic is at least A-Rank. How can you use it? Magic like this belongs only to special classes and the oldest native mages.’’
He turned to look at Vyral, yet by that moment, Vyral had already built up enough speed to flee the area. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
’’Damn it! It’s a suicidal skill!’’
Vyral gasped as he fought to sprint out of the shadow cast by the meteor, but it was practically useless.
BOOOOMMM!
The aftershock of the explosion sent Vyral flying into the air before he crashed back to the ground.
He tumbled across the ground several times before slamming into the side of a nearby mountain.
Vyral lay motionless on the ground, his body broken after countless impacts.
Blood flowed from wounds covering him from head to toe.
His consciousness was fading, along with his vision. Even so, he could still hear the notification sounds and vaguely make out the texts floating before him.

As for the demon, he didn’t care whether that bastard was dead or alive.
The only things he cared about now were how long it would take him to wake up after losing his mind, and whether Arthea had reached first place or not.
’’I’ll take a break.’’
