Chapter 25: Merlin Mage

’’It must be Scarlet ’’

Vyral stared at a beautiful angel (Lv.4) standing in midair, her wings stretched wide to either side. Her golden pupils radiated a vivid light, enough to make any young man smitten.

Even Vyral was momentarily stunned by such beauty.

Arthea, standing beside him, looked at him the same way everyone else did—as an idiot. Then, her eyes fixed on Scarlet, burning with fighting spirit.

Silver feathers drifted through the air, covering the area and swirling around the wooden figure, easily tearing it to pieces. Under the energy of purification, the shattered wood quickly nurtured into tiny sprouts.

Everybody widened their eyes in dumbfounded shock as they witnessed the scene.

’’Mana of a Deity.’’ A professor unconsciously blurted out. She lowered her head in reverence before the Apostle of the Light Goddess.

’’1000 points!’’

Another professor nodded sadly. A hint of jealousy lingered in his eyes.

’’No surprise. After all, she’s an Otherworlder.’’

Several professors shared the same sentiment. Ever since the Otherworlders came to this world, NPCs had always felt uneasy around them. They understood it all too well—the feeling of powerlessness, of inferiority in the face of the Otherworlders’ overwhelming potential.

’’Look at that! He’s a beast.’’

Everyone turned their attention to another one.

A hulking student with the frame of a minotaur( Lv.4). Despite his gigantic body, he still moved at lightning speed, vanishing in a blur before reappearing with the wooden figure’s head in his hand.

His muscular arms bulged as he smirked and crushed the head with a single grip.

The professor couldn’t help but click his tongue in admiration.

’’There’s no mistake. He possesses a body blessed by the Beast God. He’s an Apostle too.’’

Suddenly, the bare-chested minotaur leisurely headed toward a certain place, drawing everybody’s attention.

’’Where is he going?’’ some candidates wondered.

Others instinctively stepped out of his way as he passed by, like weak prey avoiding a powerful predator.

His hulking body shrank into the alluring figure of a handsome man. From time to time, he winked at the female candidates, causing some of them to blush and nearly collapse on the spot.

Soon, he stopped in front of Vyral. His crimson eyes fixed on him. Then, a smirk spread across his lips.

’’Just trash... Never thought he could catch the attention of my target.’’

Meanwhile, Vyral understood exactly how this guy was looking at him. It was the same way a rich noble would gaze at someone from the bottom of society. It was eerily similar to his enemy in his old world, the one who had trapped his life in a miserable cycle with no way out.

That gaze made this body want to lower its head and tremble.

Vyral struggled to suppress the damned reaction from this body. It was as if some buried instinct, deeply rooted within this body’s subconscious, had finally surfaced.

"Come on. Just what the hell did this body go through to end up like this? Even if it’s only a virtual body..."

Vyral could tell that his goblin body had synchronized almost perfectly with the body in the real world.

Immediately, his body stopped trembling as Arthea caught Vyral’s hand. She held it tightly and looked at him with eyes full of emotion – yet there was neither mockery, sympathy, nor pity in them.

She knew how strong Vyral’s willpower was. So, it had to be a fear carved deep into this body’s very being – a scar that could never truly be erased. And she would always be here to cover that scar.

Grey chuckled.

’’Standing behind a woman? How pathetic.’’

The next moment, he shrugged and turned away. However, before leaving, he casually dropped a sentence that made a flash of pure murderous intent appear in Vyral’s eyes.

’’Watch your girlfriend.’’

After that, Vyral withdrew his hand from Arthea’s grasp.

’’You shouldn’t have gotten involved. This is my problem, not yours.’’

Arthea was silent. She knew that in this situation, she shouldn’t say anything. Anyway, she didn’t want to hurt his self-respect – especially a man’s.

’’Totally right.I respect your actions, but you shouldn’t have helped him. Now your boyfriend will have big trouble to deal with,’’ Doran said.

Vyral grimaced.

’’How do you know me?’’

He felt quite irritated as anyone could recognize him – even his name. Maybe he was more famous than he thought.

Doran shrugged.

’’Don’t underestimate corporations. Anyway, We’re the developers of this game.’’

Doran rubbed his chin as staring at Arthea. He smiled.

’’You have good eyes, Vyral. Finding a native to be your girlfriend isn’t a bad idea.’’

However, he quickly ran up to Vyral and whispered into his ear, trying to speak as quietly as possible.

’’Native girls always desire to have many children and are obsessed with their husbands. I have some advices for you: don’t betray them if you don’t want to die.’’

A teasing, amused look spread across his face as he added.

’’Try to eat too much and get fat like me. Because they’re literally succubus.’’

Vyral waved his hand, pushing the fat dwarf away in annoyance.

’’We’re just work partners.’’

Meanwhile, Arthea covered her smile as she watched the two shorties chatting secretly.

’’Seems he has a good friend.’’

But just a few minutes later, her smile gradually faded as her eyes caught an old woman(Lv???) standing in midair.

Not only Arthea, but everyone else also began to pay attention to the old woman wearing a mage robe embroidered with silver patterns, symbolizing the highest position of a mage in the world.

Despite being old, she still retained the charming traits commonly seen in women. Combined with her nebula-silver hair flowing down to her legs, it only increased her mystery.

Some professors bowed their heads before the oldest mage in the world, who was supposed to be the strongest among Mages, even on par with the strongest Otherworlders. She was the pride of the NPCs in the world.

’’Principal Merin.’’
