Chapter 24: Fire Mage Evolution Path
[You have received a mission from Chaotic Deity Apostle]
[Description]: Support King Arthur in the academy’s entrance exam.
Option 1: Instantly obtain the Fire Mage Evolution Path. In return, you must help her achieve first place in the exam.
Option 2: Obtain the Healer Evolution Path after helping her pass the entire exam, no matter her rank.
[Penalty]: The apocalypse shall descend, and the world will collapse.
Vyral blinked for a moment while thinking about what he was reading.
’’It seems helping Arthea achieve first place in the exam would be very hard. The Deity even gives the reward upfront to make things easier, without needing to complete the mission first.’’
’’Nah, if I fail, the world will collapse anyway, so having that class first or later doesn’t really matter.’’
But if he chose option 2, the mission sounded easier.
’’So you’re giving me two options. The Healer Evolution Path is indeed a good class, but I already have some basic healing-related evolution already. And on top of that, I’m not the kind of guy who supports everyone.’’
Vyral nodded to himself and picked option 1 without hesitation.
[Congrats! You’ve just obtained a new Evolution Path.]

Vyral held his head, his emotions complicated. On one hand, he felt happy and thrilled after seeing the list of skills. On the other hand, his heart ached at how high the skill costs were.
Even with what he had now, there was no guarantee he could afford them anytime soon. Some skills might take him years to accumulate enough resources to buy—perhaps even a lifetime.
Take the Phoenix Rebirth skill as an example. Right now, he could earn 78.08 Mystic Energy per day without doing anything. If he spent entire days relentlessly killing monsters, he could probably earn around 100 Mystic Energy a day from that alone.
In total, he would earn around 180 Mystic Energy per day.
’’So, I need around 5,555,555,556 days? 15.22 million years?... Holy shit... Is there any way I can get that skill now and pay for it in installments later?’’
Vyral ran his hand through his hair in exhaustion before choosing the first skill to learn.
Mystic Energy: 10,84 → 0,84
Fireball (Rank F) Lv.1 – 10 Mystic Energy
Vyral summoned a fireball in his palm, then dismissed it. He shook his head slightly in disappointment before glancing around in search of Arthea.
Soon, he spotted her sitting on a nearby bench, waiting for the next exam.
Vyral quickly made his way over. As soon as he approached, Arthea suddenly blushed and looked away, seemingly flustered for some reason. She cleared her throat, trying to regain calmness and said,
’’So, you’re here too, Vyral.’’
She avoided making eye contact with him.
Vyral frowned in confusion. He never thought Arthea would recognize him in this new appearance. He had even prepared a ton of explanations, but now they had become completely redundant.
’’How do you know it’s me?’’
She hesitated for a moment, but then replied without hesitation. There was no need to hide her secret. After all, Vyral had been acknowledged by Excalibur – he was a worthy knight.
’’I’ve just gained a new ability from Excalibur. I can see through everyone’s soul.’’
She added,
’’With it, I’m able to see your true soul. It seems the goblin body is just a vessel that allows you to enter this world.’’
Vyral rubbed his chin as he gazed at the rusty sword hanging from Arthea’s waist.
Sensing the question in his eyes, Arthea explained carefully.
’’Excalibur was ruined long ago, so it’s almost an ordinary sword now. However, it’s still possible for it to return to its peak state, just as it was in my father’s hands. Well, it’ll be a long journey.’’
Vyral nodded and asked,
’’So, do you need any help? I’ll help you.’’
Arthea fluttered her long, beautiful eyelashes for a moment before subtly shaking her head.
’’Not now. I want to do everything on my own during this exam.’’
Vyral sighed in disappointment and sat down beside her. Meanwhile, Arthea simply smiled, sneaking a glance at him from time to time.
A few minutes later, a commotion from another zone caught Vyral’s attention. For some reason, it felt strangely familiar.
’’HAHAHAHAHA! ATTACK IT, MY BELOVED GOLEMS!’’
Vyral looked into the distance and frowned as he spotted a muscular dwarf sitting cross-legged atop a golem’s head. The dwarf (Lv.3) chuckled while commanding three golems, which were relentlessly smashing wooden figures into pieces.
Arthea spoke while observing the dwarf.
’’He’s an Otherworlder like you. I can see him—a fat man.’’
One side of Vyral’s brow rose.
’’Doran, I presume?’’
After thinking for a moment, Vyral said,
’’Arthea, let’s go check out the Mage Class zone. We should see what the other Otherworlders can do. They’ll be strong opponents in the next exam.’’
Arthea hesitated for a second before nodding in agreement. At the very least, it was better than sitting here doing nothing.
As soon as they approached the Mage Class exam zone, chatter erupted like a tidal wave through the crowd.
’’Damn it! An angel. I just saw an angel!’’
’’Where? I’ll beat your ass if you’re lying to me.’’
...
’’Shut up and see for yourself. She’s over at the Special Class zone.’’
