Chapter 14: Why is it always me?
Arthea frowned even deeper, but then she simply sighed. After all, even she herself had many secrets.
’’Never mind.’’
She took the cloth armor and went to a more secluded place to change her clothes.
Vyral just gave Arthea a complicated look before gazing at the bright panel in front of him. The changing emotions were written on his face.
[Congratulations! You’ve completed King Arthur’s mission.]

[Earring of the Sun (Lv. 1 Requirement) | Green Grade | Durability: 90%]
Option 1: Automatically extracts Mystic Energy from the mana in the air while online (0.004 Mystic Energy per minute)
Option 2: +50% Mystic Energy extraction rate.
Vyral squinted.
’’Fine, I want option 1.’’
Option 1 was surely the best choice when there weren’t always monsters to fight. Moreover, in situations where he had to fight other players, the Mystic Energy from it could help him a lot. Plus, earning Mystic Energy without doing anything already sounded insanely good.
Just like that, motes of light condensed in the air, forming a sun-shaped earring. It floated in front of Vyral before dropping into his palm.
He smiled and hung it from his ear without hesitation.
Vyral nodded in satisfaction before summoning the [Upgrade Scrolls]—precious items that only dropped from Boss Dungeons. They were one of the fastest ways to upgrade weapons and gear, though they had a few drawbacks.
’’The success rate is insanely low.’’
Vyral quickly used the first scroll on the [Earring of the Sun].
[Do you want to upgrade the Earring of the Sun to +1? Success rate: 20%.]
’’Do it.’’
Ting!
[Failed!]
’’Again!’’
[Failed!]
[Failed!]
[Failed!]
’’Come on, my luck.’’ Vyral cursed.
[Succeeded.]

[Do you want to upgrade the Earring of the Sun to +2? Success rate: 15%.]
Vyral puffed his cheeks and let out a long sigh.
’’Damn... 15%? No, I’m a man who knows his limits.’’
Vyral simply used the remaining scrolls on the [Earring of the Moon].
[Failed!]
His face remained cold as if he had already expected it. He kept using scroll more, but his confidence that the last one would succeed was practically zero.
[Succeeded.]

’’Holy shit!’’
Vyral shouted in delight, even doing a bizarre dance he had just made up on the spot. It gave him a nostalgic feeling, like the kind of excitement he used to experience as a player in his former world. Of course, if it was a lucky day. On unlucky days, he could even lose sleep over it.
A few minutes later, Arthea returned after changing into new clothes. The moment Vyral saw her – a gorgeous, stunningly beautiful girl – he could only blurt out, ’’Wow.’’
’’What now?’’ Vyral asked.
Arthea hesitated for a moment before answering.
’’I don’t know. This is my first time too. I think we just wait until the exit appears.’’
Vyral frowned.
’’I mean, what’s your goal now?’’
Arthea pressed her lips together in silence for a moment. A second later, she looked at Vyral and gave an honest answer. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
’’I don’t know. Maybe I’ll decide once I—’’
Her voice faded into silence again. Her expression looked blank, as if she had no destination to move toward.
Vyral simply crossed his arms. Now, he would properly talk with her and hear her out. After all, he still needed the mission from her.
He knew she was still mixed up over his earlier explanation.
’’I didn’t lie to you. Players already existed in this world 300 years ago. The way you talk makes it sound like you came from the past. I think that’s your case.’’
Arthea hesitated for a second before speaking.
’’I’ll decide once I see it with my own eyes.’’
She added.
’’It’s not that I don’t believe you. I just want to see that harsh truth for myself.’’
Vyral nodded before studying Arthea’s expression. Then, he spoke up.
’’Arthur Pendragon. You know that name.’’
Arthea remained silent, but her reaction already gave him the answer.
Vyral continued.
’’Arthea... I have a suggestion for you.’’
After that, Vyral gave her a brief overview of the Otherworlders across the world, along with the overall state of the world itself. Every word he spoke felt like it was tearing her heart apart – the truth that the land of Camelot had been occupied by the Seven Demon Kings, and that she was the last bloodline of Pendragon.
He made a deal – she would refuse help from anyone except Vyral. That way, her true identity wouldn’t be exposed through the missions the system sent to Otherworlders.
In other words, she would only belong to Vyral, or at the very least, he would benefit from her the most. Countless things could happen, and her identity wasn’t guaranteed to stay hidden forever.
Moreover, there were other factors, like Favorability Points and similar systems. Luckily for him, those features only appeared once players discovered that Arthea was King Arthur.
He would never hand her over to anyone, not even guilds, especially after learning how much players could benefit from her missions.
In exchange, he would help her achieve her goal at any cost – the path of revenge. freewebnoveℓ.com
After a while, the dungeon’s exit finally appeared. Once he got out of here, he would complete the mission the Deity had given him.
He would gain another evolutionary path. Just thinking about it made him feel excited and thrilled.
But unfortunately, he vanished again before reaching the exit, once more leaving Arthea alone. Obviously, his save point would no longer remain inside the dungeon. He would be dropped somewhere nearby instead
Of course, Arthea wouldn’t waste her time hopelessly searching for him without a single clue.
’’Damn it! Why is it always me?!’’ Vyral roared in fury as he slammed the gaming helmet’s battery into pieces after waking up.
