Chapter 13: He’s so handsome
Vyral could barely believe the text appearing before him. He slowly turned around, a spark of madness flashing in his eyes as he staggered toward Excalibur.
Meanwhile, the Boss Hobgoblin burst into laughter at Vyral’s foolish actions. It knew that sword very well, even the legend behind it.
’’That sword can only be drawn by someone who possesses both the bloodline of Pendragon and the aura of a king, not useless trash like you.’’
Nearby, Arthea remained silent, barely able to notice anything happening in the boss room. She was already at death’s door at this moment. However, a vivid, living energy from somewhere clung to her, rapidly healing the bloody hole in her belly. Color slowly returned to her face.
Eventually, she could move her limbs again and struggled to stand up. Bewildered and clueless, her attention shifted toward the source of the energy saving her on the rocky platform far from here.
’’Im-Impossible,’’ she muttered instinctively.
Even the Boss Hobgoblin beside her showed the same stunned expression.
It was a sight she would never forget for the rest of her life.
A green goblin was holding Excalibur in his hand. Yet the sword instead of radiating the golden aura her father once wielded, it emitted the crimson aura commonly seen in monsters.
But unlike those ordinary ones, it was sharp, dense, and filled with death. Unlike her father’s glorious, gorgeous aura, this one was pure destruction and monstrous brutality.
The air grew heavy and suffocating.
The crimson aura gently blanketed Vyral, transforming him back into his original form – a human.
He had healthy white skin, with clear lines of muscle across his body. He cracked his eyes open, revealing sapphire-blue eyes that made Arthea’s heart skip a beat.
His angular face, combined with his pitch-black hair falling down loosely, only made her stare at him without blinking. Her expression turned absent-minded, as if hypnotized, her eyes glued to that image... until a black helmet materialized, subtly concealing the man’s handsome face she desired to belong to.
A stream of thoughts and imagination flashed through her mind, even causing her to blush. She quickly held her cheek while stammering.
’’What a dirty thought... I’m a knight. I can’t have thoughts like that... Arthea, you must never think like this again. He’s just a goblin. That’s right... he’s just an ugly goblin.’’
While the Boss’s expression twisted into darkness, jealousy flashing in his eyes, he clenched his teeth.
’’I see. You’re a dog of the Deity. An Otherworlder. Only they could grant you the power to break the rules of this world.’’
’’Without them, you are nothing at all.’’
Vyral stayed silent, showing no anger at the hobgoblin’s words. Through mind-to-mind communication with Excalibur, he understood his situation very clearly.
He was not the chosen one, but Arthea. Her noble sacrifice had triggered the sword.
That sword belonged to the Pendragon bloodline.
At this moment, he looked like a mere intermediary. However, being an intermediary also required some conditions.
’’So, you’re just jealous? If you want this power, just ask me.’’
Vyral walked up to the Boss Hobgoblin and offered Excalibur to him.
’’Take it... the power you want.’’
The Hobgoblin gazed at the black knight in front of him with confusion. He never thought Vyral would do something like this.
Was he stupid?
He smirked.
’’Thank you, fool.’’
Without hesitation, he quickly took Excalibur from Vyral’s hand. And then, a surge of power ran through his veins.
His crimson aura shifted into something closer to Vyral’s.
He burst into laughter, raising the sword and aiming it at Vyral’s neck.
’’With this power of the Deity, I will escape this damned dungeon and conquer the world outside.’’
However, half a second later, his face twisted in pure agony. He felt his mind as if it was being torn apart by hundreds of beasts.
A stream of blood began to run out of his nose as his mind started collapsing.
’’What is this magic?’’
His eyes turned bloodshot as he roared in fury. freewebnσvel.cѳm
’’What have you done to me?’’
He tried to let go of Excalibur, yet his hand disobeyed him. It clutched the sword tightly, as if a fly were frantically sucking nectar, losing control inside a carnivorous flower’s mouth.
At this rate, his death would come for sure.
Vyral explained.
’’Indeed, Excalibur has its own consciousness. It never allows anyone to draw it without permission. But you know why it did that? Not because it chooses someone it likes—handsome, rich, etc.—but because it was protecting us from its power.’’
’’This power will kill anyone who doesn’t have a strong will and a cleansed soul.’’
Vyral smirked as he looked down at the Hobgoblin writhing in agony. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
’’I was chosen because I deserve it. And you... you’re just a pathetic, weak soul. Nothing but a stupid brute. You’ve received exactly what you’re worthy of.’’
He leisurely took Excalibur from the Hobgoblin’s hand, releasing the wretched Hobgoblin from torment.
’’You see... You’ve dug your own grave.’’
The Hobgoblin clenched his teeth in powerlessness, as everything coming from the goblin’s mouth was true.
He was dying from the backlash of Excalibur. His soul was severely injured. But now he just wanted to die immediately, to no longer hear anything from a goblin.
To him, that humiliation was even worse than death.
’’You are nothing here.’’
Vyral spoke up coldly before finishing the Boss Hobgoblin.

Vyral smiled brightly as the items floated in midair, quickly dissipating into his [Inventory].
’’Finally, I have pants.’’
Just half a second later, Excalibur dropped down, lying motionless and returning to a rusty, useless sword.
Of course, Vyral had returned to his ugly goblin form. Actually, he didn’t pay much attention to his human form at that time. He was focused on only one thing: killing the Hobgoblin and saving Arthea.
In relief, Vyral summoned some clothes to wear.
’’Who are you, actually?"
Arthea asked in an uncertain voice as she picked up Excalibur.
Vyral smiled before giving her a cloth armor.
’’Sure enough, I’m a goblin.’’
