Chapter 10: Excalibur

Vyral’s chest rose and fell as he tried to catch his breath. The burning pain clung to his skin. If not for [Hardened Skin Lv.2], he would’ve been burned to ash by the fireballs.

"Damn it."

He clenched his fist as he struggled to stand up. The scorched patches on his skin – some even exposing bleeding muscle fibers – slowly began to heal thanks to [Enhanced Regeneration Lv3]

Arthea frowned in surprise.

’’Your wounds are healing themselves... Are you some kind of healer?’’

She had never heard of a goblin with a unique class; most of them only had basic classes that were almost useless. But remembering the goblin’s identity, she quickly suppressed her surprise.

’’I don’t meet too many Otherworlders, but if all of them are like him, this would be a serious problem for my world... I hope he’s just an exception’’

Vyral chuckled and said politely,

"You could say that."

Of course, he wouldn’t reveal his secret.

Arthea pouted.

"Indeed... never trust anything that comes out of a goblin’s mouth, liar."

She added, "By the way, our cooperation is done. Let’s go our separate ways."

Thinking that their relationship might have been mended after he opened her a chance to finish hobgoblins, it turned out it had been over the moment he logged out, leaving her alone.

Women really do hold grudges for a long time, even if it was just an unavoidable accident.

Vyral hurriedly followed her and explained why he had vanished without telling her. But she ignored him as if he were an invisible monster.

To her, Vyral’s explanations were just a pathetic excuse.

However, thinking about it again, Vyral had indeed helped her a lot. Besides, she wasn’t the type of person who depended too much on others, so even if Vyral had fled when facing a swarm of unexpectedly strong monsters, it wasn’t a big deal to her. Anyone rational would have done the same in that situation. freēwebnovel.com

Deep down inside, she had already let it go. Anyway, she wouldn’t repeat her father’s mistake. Don’t expect too much from anyone.

"Let’s see how good his silver tongue is."

She smirked as she headed toward the boss room, completely ignoring Vyral, despite his best attempts to convince her.

At that moment, a sound rang out in Vyral’s ears.

Ting!

[You have received a mission from King Arthur, Apostle]

[Description]: Support the King in dealing with the Hobgoblin Boss and reclaim Excalibur.

[Reward]:

[Earring of the Sun Lv.1| Green Grade | Durability: 92% |?]

+ 20 favorability point with King Arthur

[Penalty]:

- 100 favorability point with King Arthur

Vyral frowned as he stared at the bright text in front of him. Why was he still receiving a mission from Arthea? Unless she had already forgiven him .

So why did she still keep that cold expression and ignore him like that?

Vyral looked at her suspiciously and rubbed his chin.

Meanwhile, Arthea gave him a faint smirk before speaking. Then, her voice turned completely serious.

"We’re approaching the boss of this dungeon. I’ve faced it before and drawn a painful conclusion—we will never clear this dungeon."

"Unless... I got a magic sword in the boss room. We have to cooperate."

Vyral tried to show his surprise at that mission.

"G-Great... what can I do for you?"

Arthea frowned as she stared at the green goblin. For some reason, she felt annoyed, but she let it slide and continued,

"I’ll hold the boss back while you deal with the small fries. Once you’re done, we’ll handle the boss together. Then you and I will create an opening for me to grab that magic sword over there."

Vyral nodded.

’’Got it.’’

A few minutes later, they finally entered the boss room.

Arthea drew her sword and stared at the Hobgoblin Boss, the tallest and toughest-looking among the monsters, sitting at the edge of a rocky platform where a rusty sword was embedded.

The sword looked like nothing more than a useless rusty piece of metal, but both Vyral and Arthea understood that it was their only chance to clear the dungeon.

The Hobgoblin Boss slowly rose to his feet, revealing a muscular, scar-covered body forged through countless battles. He gestured for his underlings to stay back before leisurely walking toward Arthea.

He looked down at her, his eyes filled with pure interest. Then he let out a loud yell, his voice echoing through the vast room.

"Grak-grak, grak-grak." (You’re a worthy knight... no one will interfere in our fight.)

The underlings behind him nodded respectfully, accepting their leader’s command.

Arthea grimaced and turned toward Vyral, curiosity flickering in her eyes.

"What did they say?"

Vyral lingered for a while before answering.

’’He said... you’re just a damn bitch. Tonight, I’ll make you my woman’’

Silence.

Veins bulged across Athrea’s forehead as she frowned. Her eyes flashed with killing intent toward the hobgoblin boss.

"Good."

The moment that crystal-clear voice fell, she dashed at the hobgoblin boss, lunging into the first clash like a rabid wolf desperate to tear its prey apart.

The sharp clanging of steel echoed through the vast room as the two fighters exchanged blows.

Vyral smirked as he stared at the hobgoblins left in the vast room. All of them were also glaring at him, wanting nothing more than to kill him right there.

Vyral noticed the fireballs forming in their palms before quickly summoning the list of basic evolutions.

[Heat Resistance Lv.1] – 1 Mystic Energy.

Your cells have gained increased resistance to high temperatures.

"Sure enough, they’re capable of using fire magic." He nodded and chose [Heat Resistance Lv.1] without hesitation — a basic evolution he had discovered while heading toward the boss room.

Mystic Energy: 1.65 → 0.65

+5 Fire Resistance

’’Nice.’’

Just as the basic evolution was purchased, over a dozen fireballs instantly shot toward Vyral at high speed. It seemed the hobgoblins had no intention of giving him any more time to prepare.

Taking the chance to launch a surprise attack, Vyral charged forward, throwing himself straight into the fireballs as if they were invisible to him. Flames soon engulfed his body, causing a painful scream to echo throughout the vast room.

The first hobgoblin in the row chuckled and waved his hand in disdain.

"Trash."

But just half a second later, the sharp claws appeared out of nowhere and tore across his throat, leaving behind five ragged gashes. Blood poured from the gaping wounds, brutally staining the hobgoblin’s upper body red.

The hobgoblin’s eyes rolled back and turned hollow before its body collapsed to the ground, while Vyral jumped down from the corpse.

All of the hobgoblins widened their eyes at the sight of the goblin’s unharmed body, as if they had just witnessed the strangest thing in the world.

A goblin capable of resisting flame magic.

What an absurdity.

One of the hobgoblins clenched her teeth, then roared with bloodshot eyes after Vyral killed her mate.

"Kill him!"
