Chapter 50: Witness this moment

AN: Happy Friyay!!! Three Chapters again today. Happy reading!

Since her mother was fine, she decided to take a break. Taking a break was actually an excuse. She had just heard that they had gone to arrest Li Jun, and she wanted to see it. She wanted to see the fear and anger in his eyes after being set up. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

She entered her bedroom and locked the door behind her. The bed that she had left in disarray after being woken up before dawn was now neatly spread. She could have used her phone to finally witness this moment, but she wanted to bask in it. She wanted to see him suffer on the largest screen she could find.

"Turn on the screen," she said, and the home system immediately responded. A large floating screen appeared before her eyes. Biting her thumb, she said, "Change channel to StarNet News."

The floating screen responded immediately, and the image she had been excited to see appeared. There he was, being dragged out of his disgusting club, with his hands tied behind his back. The reporter was speaking in the background, but she didn’t hear a word they said. Her lips curled into a sinister smile, watching him being dragged into the reinforced truck.

The upturned corners of her mouth suddenly fell when she saw the hickeys on his neck and chest. Her jaw tightened until it hurt. Her knuckles turned white from her clenched fists. A raging storm was brewing inside of her, and it was on the verge of exploding.

Who else could have left those hickeys on his neck and chest other than Yu Wen? They left together last night, and they couldn’t wait to throw it in her face. Not only that, but he looked so smug and smiling like he was mocking her.

He should have been terrified just as she was when their father beat her, but he looked like this charge was nothing. Like he was going to walk out of this unscathed. Her eyes blazing with fury, she exploded.

Like a hurricane, she tore through her bedroom, taking out her anger on every fragile thing in her sight. Vases were smashed on the wall, paintings were torn to shreds, her bed, which had been spread neatly, was now crumpled, the fabric wrinkled and bunched up. Nothing in that room was safe, not even the drawers or the furniture.

After unleashing all her pent-up rage, she breathed heavily, her eyes blazed like a bull seeing red. She couldn’t let him get away with this. He had to pay. He had to fucking pay. She opened her bedroom door, and her attendants, who had been waiting outside, trembled in fear as they lowered their heads.

They had heard everything being smashed and were afraid she would take it out on them, too. Li Yu seemed like a sweet princess to everyone who didn’t know her well. But to those close to her, they knew how evil she could be. She once cut the face of a maid close to her because she looked at the general a few times, her cheeks blushing.

From that day onwards, they kept their heads down. They didn’t want to be her next victim. Li Yu said, "Let me know as soon as Li Jun arrives at the prison."

The two women bowed their heads even lower and responded, "Yes, your highness."

She walked into the lounge and slumped on the couch with her hands trembling. She raised her arm, and there was a barely visible scar. When her father beat her, she fell into a shard of broken porcelain, and it left a scar that she refused to remove.

She wanted to remind herself that for the sake of Li Jun, her father beat her within an inch of her life. That all the love that should have belonged to her, all the daddy and daughter tea parties, all the daddy and daughter dances, were stolen by Li Jun. The time had come for him to repay that debt.

"Father," she said, the smile on her lips sinister, "Your favorite child will join you soon. You two can finally be together."

Three armored trucks, followed by five military police cars, drove at full speed into the back gate of the imperial palace. The front gate was packed with reporters hoping to catch a glimpse of the Imperial prince in cuffs, so they had to use another entrance. There were some reporters there, but their numbers were low.

The large gates shut, and some of them tried to sneak in, but the imperial guards, heavily armed, drew their weapons while ordering them to stay back. The trucks drove for five minutes before pulling up at an isolated building with no windows. It looked out of place in this majestic palace.

Treating him like the worst of criminals, they lined up, their weapons drawn. The head of the operation signaled them to open the doors. Two men pulled the truck doors open, and Li Jun was led out.

"Walk!" one of them ordered while shoving him forward. Li Jun knew what this was. It was an opportunity to show their power to someone who had been untouchable. He could just let it go and forgive, but he wasn’t that benevolent. He was kind, but he was not a pushover.

He turned around to face the man who had shoved him. He was cuffed and restrained, meaning the man shouldn’t have anything to be worried about, but Li Jun was still so menacing.

His lips curled into a sinister smile, his aura thick and suffocating. His voice low and ominous, he said, "If you touch me again, I will have you strung up in the desert and watch you get eaten alive by scavengers. Do you understand?"

The man’s body turned rigid, his jaw locked. He seemed composed, but internally he was unravelling. Fear ate at him, each heartbeat pounding louder, but he forced himself to look calm even when he was scared shitless.

Li Jun said, "Good," and he turned to walk forward. The head of the operation was someone he had dealings with. He was the head of the imperial guard, Lord Commander Luca. "Right this way, your highness," he said as he stepped aside.

"I can’t wait to see the suite you have prepared for me," he said in a mocking tone. Luca cleared his throat, but he didn’t say anything.
