Chapter 44: Take responsibilty

Unfortunately, Li Yu didn’t pick up on his sarcasm. "You will get an invitation, and you will get to sit right at the front," she gloated, acting like they were already engaged and in love.

Li Yu could have been the mature older brother and back off, but that wasn’t his nature. He clicked his tongue while glancing around, checking the coast before saying, "That’s going to be a little awkward, don’t you think?" ƒгeewebnovёl.com

She felt her heart jump, wondering what the hell he meant. She didn’t waste any time asking directly, "What do you mean?"

He leaned in and whispered, "Because I fucked him that night." Her pupils trembled, and all the color on her face was drained. She was as pale as a sheet of paper. Li Jun continued, "Whatever you put in his drink fucked him up so bad that he didn’t even care that he hates me. He clung to me while begging to be fuc-"

His voice was abruptly cut off when she raised her hand to slap him. He caught her wrist before she could lay a hand on him. Enraged, she tried to pull out of his grasp while yelling, "Let go of me."

He tightened his grip and pulled her closer. Looking into her hate-filled eyes, he murmured, "You lay a hand on me, and I will cut your fucking hand off, do you hear me?" He shoved her away, and she stumbled backwards, rubbing her sore wrist.

"You fucking slut. You stole all of Father’s love, and now you want to steal my man, too? You are a heartless beast," she said, heaving. All this time, she thought it was a woman in that club who helped Yu Wen, but it turns out the one who sullied him was this lunatic. Her heart snapped in two, and she was shattered. "I am going to kill you," she said through gritted teeth.

Li Jun’s lips curled into a sinister smile as he said, "Get in fucking line," before walking away. Li Yu watched him leave her eyes bloodshot and crazed. Her body was trembling as she struggled to contain her rage. She hated him. She hated him with every fiber of her being.

On his way back, Li Jun found Tanya waiting for him. Seeing that he was in a terrible mood, she didn’t dare ask. She said, "Your Highness, the boss said you don’t have to stay if you don’t want to."

He smiled and said, "I haven’t drunk my fill yet," before entering the hall. Dinner was over, and most people were socializing. Socializing was a polite way of putting it. In truth, they were gossiping while drinking. Others were dancing, and the host was sitting at the highest seat chatting with one of the ladies.

Li Jun picked up a glass from the tray. He saluted Xiu Ying with a smile before downing the entire thing. Another waiter passed by, and he swapped the empty glass for another. Tanya watched him down the second one, and she started to get worried. She messaged Draco, telling him that the prince seemed to be spiraling.

Draco’s response was swift. He told her not to worry and to just protect him. Li Jun stretched out his hand and said to Anika, "May I ask for this dance?" Anika was more than happy to oblige. Which of the six of them wasn’t eyeing Li Jun? He was single, handsome, and a lot of fun to be around.

The two of them walked hand in hand to the dance floor. With his hand on her waist and hers on his shoulder, they waltzed together. Li Jun spun her around, and she chuckled softly as she returned into his arms. Just then, he caught a glimpse of Yu Wen looking at them.

Li Jun clenched his jaw and spun them around so he wouldn’t have to look at that cold face that was making him uncomfortable. ’What is there to look at?’ he thought. Anika’s sultry and magnetic scent lingered on him even when they separated.

He had four more glasses after that. The way he was drinking wasn’t leisurely, but like he was trying to drown out something. Tanya, realizing that he was tipsy, convinced him to go home. Li Jun knew he couldn’t get drunk at a place like this. There were a lot of demons watching and waiting for him to slip up.

Tanya helped him up, and they left the hall. He didn’t even bother to bid farewell to the host. He got into the car that had been brought up front. As soon as the door closed, the other door opened. Tanya pulled out her weapon with no hesitation.

When Li Jun saw that it was Yu Wen, he said, "Put it away." She didn’t want to do as told. Ever since she saw Yu Wen, she felt he was the biggest threat in that hall. Something about him made her feel like he was the biggest predator in the crowd, preying on Li Jun. Despite her personal feelings, she couldn’t disobey orders, thus she reluctantly holstered her weapon.

"Go join the other girls," Li Jun said. Tanya protested immediately, but his expression said everything.

She put the gun in his hand and said, "If he tries anything, shoot him. We will help you get rid of the body." Li Jun laughed, finding it amusing. As soon as she left, he turned to him and asked,

"What are you doing here?"

Yu Wen didn’t seem fazed by Tanya’s words. He said, "I need a ride."

Li Jun tapped the cold metal in his hand before saying, "Is the general’s household so broke that you have to beg your enemy for a ride?"

A low chuckle came from beside him, making his ears, which were already red from drinking, itchy. "Why are you curious about my financial situation? Is it because you plan on marrying into my household?"

Li Jun, "???"

’Who the fuck wants to marry into his household. If anything, he should be marrying into mine... fuck,’ he thought, having realized that Yu Wen’s stupidity was rubbing off on him.

"I can take responsibility for you... after all, I am the one wh-," he continued to say, but he was cut off by Li Jun’s scolding.

"Responsibility for what? It was an unimpressive night. If that’s what you have to offer, why would I tie myself to you and be disappointed for the rest of my life? I am not a fucking idiot." Li Jun thought this would be the end of it. After his prowess was questioned, Yu Wen would probably back off, right?

After a long silence, Yu Wen suddenly said, "Then how about we go at it again and see if it’s really unimpressive? Last time I was out of it, but this time I will be sober."

Li Jun, "..."
