Chapter 17: Your guardian angel
Draco was left standing there, seething in anger. Yu Wen was even more stubborn than his father. At least Yu Hu was flexible sometimes and he could respect each other’s wishes and hold off but Yu Wen was so rigid and unyielding.
One of his henchmen walked over and said, "Boss, are we just going to let him go like that?" They thought they might lock him and rough him up a bit but Draco just let him walk.
Draco took the towel from his hand and wiped the blood that was already crusting on his face and said, "Let him go. We have more important things to take care of." By important things, Draco was talking about finding evidence that Li Jun had nothing to do with Yu Hu’s murder.
His grandson didn’t remember much of what happened that night or the things that happened half the time when he was with Li Mingze. Draco had asked him several times and Li Jun really couldn’t remember. When he got someone to retrieve these memories, Li Jun was pulled into a nightmarish hell that left his body drenched in sweat and he fell sick, left bedridden for days.
Thus, he didn’t attempt that again. Till this day, Li Jun still had nightmares that were severe enough that he needed to be medicated for him to get a good night’s rest. But Draco didn’t know that Li Jun wasn’t taking them because he was trying to remember. He also wanted to know what happened but his nightmares were like fragments that had no connection with each other.
Since he didn’t dare put Li Jun through that again, he decided to use other means to find out the truth. Someone must know something. Someone must have seen something or recorded something.
Draco issued an order saying, "Allocate manpower to find everything that happened those years. They should reinvestigate everything. This is top priority."
The man said, "Yes, sir," and left the training room to allocate people.

Meanwhile, Li Jun had no idea that his grandfather had gotten revenge for him. He was playing pool with Xu Yuan. Well, calling it playing was putting it lightly. He was decimating Xu Yuan, defeating him at every turn. Xu Yuan regretted boasting about his winning streak and agreeing to play for money. He had lost a lot and was crying tears of blood.
Xu Yuan said, "Brother, please, have mercy on me. I will be broke by the time you are done with me."
Li Jun chuckled as he slid the cue stick resting on his fingers. With a sharp crack, he struck the cue ball and rolled towards the edge of the table before gathering momentum and striking the last ball. The ball rolled into the pocket and for the nth time, Li Jun had left Xu Yuan in the dust.
"Pay up," Li Jun said with a smug grin and Xu Yuan wailed, begging for mercy. Li Jun wasn’t an unreasonable person, so he said, "How about this, you ask your mum to make the cookies from last time and I will let this go." Xu Yuan would rather get his fortune robbed. It took a lot of coaxing and a lot of taking her shopping, to get her to do anything. It was exhausting.
Xu Yuan was about to negotiate when Yan Jia walked in, reporting. "Your highness, it’s done." Li Jun leaned against the table with a sly grin. The thing she was talking about was sending that man right at Minister Lorino’s gate. He wished he were there to see his reaction and savor it. He clicked his tongue, feeling regretful.
He asked, "Is everything ready?"
Yan Jia nodded and said, "Yes, I had someone send the intel. In a matter of hours, they will raid all of his properties. It will be the largest Chronos bust in decades." At first, she thought they would have to plant Chronos in his properties, but it turns out he was importing ton loads of this stuff and selling it to upper- and middle-class clients. He had set up an elaborate business scheme and he was making millions from it.
Li Jun was pleased with her performance, so he said, "You did good, you should take some time off. I will send you your bonus."
He was always generous to those around him, which was why, despite him giving up his right to the throne, they gladly followed him. Yan Jia bowed, saying, "Thank you, Your Highness but the time off won’t be necessary." She was genuinely worried that if she left, who would look out for him, thus she refused decisively.
He laughed and said, "Sister Jia, what do you think will happen if you aren’t here? It’s not like I will burn the house down."
Xu Yuan interjected, saying, "Wellllll."
Li Jun, "..."
He immediately defended himself, saying, "Come on, last time it was an accident. I didn’t mean to fall asleep." freewebnoveℓ.com
Yan Jia chimed in, saying, "Falling asleep with a lit cigarette in your hand?" It had genuinely been an accident. He had just had a terrible nightmare and woke up in a frenzy. To calm his nerves, he lit one.
Who would have thought he was so exhausted that he slept with it in his hand and burnt a hole in the sheets? If it weren’t for Yan Jia’s dog-like nose smelling the smoke, he might have been burned too.
While Yan Jia was defending himself, Commander Takumi read the investigative report on his desk with a stern look on his face. He had been severely reprimanded by his superiors after the raid. If it weren’t that Li Jun was universally hated, he might have lost his job. They were actively discussing his demotion behind closed doors and now this report had fallen on his desk.
The laws of Aurelia were clear. If there was strong evidence that someone was in possession of Chronos, there was no need to get a warrant. The only reason they had a search warrant for Li Jun was because of who he was. But for low-level ministers like this, there was no need to report first as long as he could justify his judgment in front of his superiors.
But if this information was wrong, then he could kiss his career goodbye. While he was contemplating what to do, his phone buzzed. He took it out and saw a message on his screen. It wasn’t sent through any of his apps. It just appeared on his screen like someone had hacked into it.
_This is your second chance, Commander_
Takumi was still frozen stiff when the message disappeared and another one came through.
_Don’t disappoint me_
When the second message vanished, he asked who are you. But when he realized they couldn’t hear him, he was at a loss. But to his surprise, they replied.
_Your guardian angel_
Across town, Li Jun shut the connection down and spun in his chair with a smirk on his face. This was going to be fun to watch.
