Chapter 14: Their time is up.
The man shivered even more when he met Li Jun’s gaze. When he came here to find work, Li Jun had such a friendly disposition, and he was always generous and kind to everyone. At the time, he thought, how could such a person be related to the mad king? How could he be raised by that madman and be this benevolent?
But looking at him now, he finally understood. Back then, he hadn’t crossed the line. He hadn’t touched his bottom line, and now that he had, he finally saw the other side of Li Jun buried underneath the mask. He was still smiling, but that charming smile carried something sinister with it, making his blood run cold.
It was like being in the presence of a beast on the verge of a bloody tirade. He had tried to flee as soon as he put the drugs in the nightclub, hiding them in a place that wouldn’t easily be found but before he could board a transporter, as discussed with the person who hired him, he was caught. They tied him up and sent him back to the nightclub. He spent a night in that fucking freezer and they made sure he stayed alive long enough for this moment. freewёbnoνel.com
Li Jun curled his finger with a relaxed demeanor and said, "Come here," his voice menacing yet bewitching at the same time. He found himself following his orders without putting up a fight. He crawled over, stopping only a few feet from Li Jun, not daring to get any closer.
Using the plasma gun in his hand, he beckoned him over and said, "Come closer." The man was hesitant. If he moved in closer, he would be right between Li Jun’s legs.
Seeing him dawdle, Yan Jia said, "His Highness said get closer," her voice chilling. The man did as told and moved close enough. Li Jun gripped his hair painfully and the man teared up. It felt like his hair was being pulled out from his scalp. He was forced to tilt his head back and look into those fiery eyes.
"I... I," he stammered but nothing else came from his mouth.
Li Jun leaned down, his smile ominous. He asked, "Anything to say?"
The man who didn’t want to die here started to beg for his life, saying, "Your Highness, I was wrong. I just wanted to make some money for my family. Please, let me go just this once." He rubbed his frost-bitten fingers together, pleading for mercy.
His highness’s cozy and inviting scent assailed his senses. It was a huge contrast to the devilish and wicked aura he was exuding. Li Jun chuckled menacingly and said, "He says he has a family."
Yan Jia’s expression grew colder while his men let out stifled laughter. Did this man think they were stupid? Before he was even given this job, Yan Jia had already done thorough research about him. Let alone only family, she knew what he ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner ever since he stepped out of maximum security.
She even knew his DNA ancestry, so how could she not know if he had a family or not? He was a drifter with no family ties. Li Jun preferred people with no relatives as they didn’t have anything anyone could hold over their heads.
But it seemed this man had something greater than family that could be used to manipulate him and that was his love of money. Li Jun’s smile grew bigger but his eyes became even darker. Without any ounce of hesitation, he aimed the plasma gun at his thigh and, with a loud bang, he pulled the trigger.
The man’s bloodcurdling screams filled the room. A searing pain like his flesh was being burnt off tore through him, making his vision blurry. He tried to wiggle out of Li Jun’s grasp and flee for his life but Li Jun tightened his grip and whispered, "Don’t move." Terror spread throughout his body and he froze, his chest heaving.
He regretted it. He regretted it so much but it was too late. Li Jun beckoned Yan Jia over and she brought the packet of Chronos. Seeing the brick coming towards him he was so terrified that he started to struggle again. Li Jun, looking like a fiend out for blood, said, "At a small dose, you will feel a rush, your senses heightened. Those who have taken it say it’s like walking on fluffy clouds and everything feels brighter and blissful. But at a higher dose..."
With an unfeeling gaze, Li Jun continued, "That euphoric feeling turns into an excruciating agonizing pain. It feels like your insides are being burned from within. You feel like drinking buckets of water but nothing can quench your thirst. Purple vines spread all over your body and you die with blood coming out from all four orifices."
As he said this, he poured down the powder in his mouth. The man struggled but the more he struggled, the more it went down his throat. He tried to spit it out but Li Jun tossed the empty bag aside and closed his mouth with a murderous, maniacal gaze. It was only when the man had swallowed it all down that he kicked him away.
Yan Jia disliked it when Li Jun did these dirty things himself but she also knew that this was his method. He dealt with it personally, so none of them would dare think he was someone who could be messed with. She passed him a wet wipe and he took it. His head lowered with stray strands concealing his dark gaze, he wiped his finger one at a time.
The room was filled with the man’s anguished screams as he writhed on the floor. Blood flowed from his eyes, ears and mouth with purple veins spreading all over his face. Li Jun has seen what that drug did to people.
Children were left orphaned. Families lost their homes all because their parents were addicted to this shit. Bodies were strewn on the streets and left there for days. That drug almost brought Aurelia’s downfall, thus Li Jun would show no mercy to anyone who would be associated with its production, transportation, or trade.
He raised his head and with a commanding tone, said, "Drop his body at the source and send them a message."
Yan Jia asked, "What would you like me to tell them?"
Li Jun curled his lip into a sinister grin and said, "Tell them their time is up."
