Chapter 6: Chapter 6: My Grandmother’s Mansion.
Celestia enjoyed the ride to her Grandmother’s Mansion. This world was very different from where she came from—they valued nature so much here.
She could see different kinds of trees stretching across the road, and she loved it.
She leaned her head against the carriage door and closed her eyes.
The first thought that came to her mind was a man with red and green irises.
She quickly opened her eyes and lightly hit her head with her fan.
"No, you cannot be thinking about the person who almost killed you a few minutes ago. He is very dangerous... but then, he’s so fine.
Like, one of the finest male species I have ever seen," she thought, giggling.
"My Lady, are you okay?" Angelina asked, looking genuinely concerned.
"Of course I am. Just mood swings."
"Uh... what does that mean?" Angelina asked, confused.
Celestia totally forgot. Since she came to this world, she realized they didn’t always understand the way she spoke.
"It just means my emotions are all over the place." freewёbnoνel.com
Angelina looked even more confused, and Jake, who had been staring outside the carriage window while guarding them, turned to look at Celestia with the same expression.
"You know what, forget I ever said that," she said, leaning back. "How much longer is my grandmother’s place?"
"About a few miles more, my Lady," the coachman replied from the front.
"I’m so famished. I need to eat."
Celestia had been in a rush to go to the royal court today, so she hadn’t eaten anything.
She hadn’t gotten dinner the night before either because she had apparently done something wrong and her Father ordered that no one should serve her any food for the night. Up till now, she still didn’t know what it was.
Angelina brought out something wrapped from her pocket and handed it to her.
"I got this for you because I knew you would still be hungry."
Celestia squealed.
"Thank you! You always look out for me."
"It’s my duty," Angelina replied.
Celestia was so hungry she didn’t even have time to respond. She opened it, and the aroma was heavenly.
She started eating, and then something crossed her mind.
When she told Zeil, "Fuck you," did he think she meant it that way and not as a curse word?
"Oh my gosh!"
The realization hit her.
She gasped and covered her face with her hand.
She felt so embarrassed.
He must have really thought she meant it that way, and she didn’t. No wonder he said, "I wouldn’t get the chance to".
But then again...
"Well, if I wanted to, I could," Celestia muttered, flattering herself.
Then she turned to look at her wrist.
As Celestia stared at the faint crescent mark on her wrist, her playful mood slowly faded.
The symbol looked almost harmless now, a thin silver curve resting against her skin like moonlight trapped beneath flesh.
But she knew what she saw. freewebnovel.cσ๓
During her fight with Zeil, it glowed.
Not just glowed, it burned and even changed
to another phase, she had a notion that the mark on her hand symbolizes the Lunar phases, it had shone so brightly that even she was startled, and for a moment, it felt like something inside her had awakened.
She gently traced her fingers over it.
Cold.
Yet somehow, it sent warmth through her chest.
Weird.
Very weird.
"I’ve seen this before..." she whispered to herself.
But where?
The memories in this body were frustrating, some clear like glass, others shattered like broken mirrors.
She closed her eyes, trying to force herself to remember.
A room.
Dark.
Candles.
Her mother’s voice, soft, distant.
"Never let anyone see it, Celestia"
"What does it mean, Mama"
"It means you are special and being special always invites trouble"
Her eyes snapped open.
She sat upright so suddenly that Angelina looked at her in alarm.
"My Lady?"
Celestia shook her head quickly.
"No... nothing."
But it wasn’t nothing.
Her breathing had become uneven.
Why would her mother warn her about that?
And why did Drazeil look at her wrist like he already knew exactly what it meant?
No...
Not just knew.
There was this expression in his eyes.
Hatred.
Celestia turned her wrist again, staring at the crescent moon.
What are you?
And more importantly...
What am I?
She wanted to ask Angelina, but Angelina might not know enough about it. It would be better to cleverly ask her grandmother later.
Celestia cut the snack Angelina gave her into three pieces and handed some to Angelina and Jake.
She was sure they were hungry too.
"My Lady, you don’t have to. We are not hungry," Angelina said.
"Of course," Celestia replied, already expecting the rejection.
"I know you’re not hungry. I just want you to eat it so that in case it has been poisoned, we shall all die together." she said knowingly so that they would take it and eat.
"My Lady, you shouldn’t say such things. Angelina would never poison you," Jake retorted.
Celestia smiled.
"Of course, I know she wouldn’t. But this wasn’t made by her, and who knows?"
"I have my healing abilities in case—"
Before Angelina could finish, Celestia shoved the food into both their hands.
"Must you people make me talk so much just to get you to eat?"
Angelina wanted to protest again, but Celestia raised her hand.
"It’s an order."
She turned back to the window.
Stretching her neck outside slightly, she saw a beautiful mansion standing proudly ahead.
The memories she had were blurry, but she hadn’t expected it to be this beautiful.
It was adorned with red rubies.
"My grandmother is really rich", she thought.
She turned to Angelina.
"Tell me about my grandmother."
"I don’t understand that question, my Lady."
Celestia bit her lip.
How was she supposed to ask without making Angelina suspicious?
Most times, she could almost see the look in Angelina’s eyes saying, "Is she truly alright?"
The problem was that some memories in this body were vivid, while others were frustratingly blurry.
Then an idea came to her.
She smiled, leaned back, and used her fan to cool herself.
"What I mean is... what do people usually gossip about my grandmother? What do you know about her? Let’s say I was a total stranger, and you were asked to explain how she became my grandmother, what connections she has with House Alwyn—what would you say?"
Angelina smiled.
"My Lady, you are so funny. You always ask questions about your own family as though you are a stranger."
She must be trying to test my knowledge about her family, Angelina thought.
"Lady Bailey from House Sylex is the only surviving descendant from the Sylex family who still carries the unique magic passed down through the bloodline."
"What is the unique magic that she has?" Celestia asked quickly, then smiled awkwardly. "That sounded like a question a stranger would ask . You understand that I’m trying to act like a stranger, right? I definitely know what the unique magic passed through the bloodline of the Sylex family is."
"Yes, my Lady, I understand.
The unique magic of the Sylex family is ice and mind control. The user can read minds and manipulate them.
However, it has been centuries since anyone possessed the power of mind control, so many people believe that part of the magic is dead.
But the ice magic still remains alive.
Your grandmother has it, and your late mother had it too before her mysterious death.
But your stepmother does not have it. It skipped her, so she does not carry the unique bloodline magic."
"What does my stepmother have to do with all this?"
"She is the twin sister of your mother."
Celestia blinked.
"Wow. Yet another shocking piece of information I didn’t know." she said to herself.
"So what magic powers does she have then?"
"Well, just the basic powers of a witch, but her spells are much stronger than those of a normal witch.
Also, during the Grand Coven Assembly, she was granted an additional witch power...VOICE ENCHANTMENT.
But the Assembly also gives a hidden magic power to everyone who unlocks one. You can choose to reveal it or keep it secret.
For Lady Tiana, I do not think she has ever told anyone what her hidden power is."
"Do you have any idea what it might be?"
"Not at all, my Lady."
Celestia hummed softly.
There were too many things she didn’t know.
She had to uncover why she was really here... and find a way to leave.
She was lost in thought when suddenly the coachman opened the carriage door.
Since she had been leaning against it, she fell straight to the ground.
"Ouch! That hurts a lot," Celestia hissed.
"My Lady!" Angelina rushed forward.
Jake frowned at the coachman.
"You could have alerted us before opening the door."
The coachman, trembling with fear, immediately dropped to the floor.
"Forgive me, my Lady. I am so sorry."
Celestia couldn’t even respond properly before Jake came over and used his healing power on her.
"It’s good to have a healer by my side," Celestia said aloud.
"Yes, my Lady. I am here to serve you," Jake replied.
True... but not at the cost of draining yourself, she thought.
She pointed at the coachman.
"You."
She wasn’t actually angry at him.
After all, it wasn’t his fault she had been sitting so unladylike.
"It’s alright," she said, crouching down and helping him up.
"But next time," she whispered, "try to alert me before opening the carriage door."
"Yes, my Lady. Thank you for your mercy."
"My precious granddaughter with a heart full of rubies," a woman’s voice called.
Her grandmother had always loved rubies.
She said they shone brighter than any other gem.
At the very least, Celestia could say her grandmother was the reason she always wore red.
When she was younger, she never had beautiful clothes.
But the days her grandmother visited and brought her the most beautiful dresses, they were all red.
Since then, she could hardly stand wearing any other color.
"Grandmother!" Celestia shouted at the top of her lungs.
She smiled brightly and ran straight into her arms.
