Chapter 8: Going Back Home
"Cassian, you need to calm down," Arianna said, forcing herself to get out of bed and walk to them, but pain shot through her back, forcing her to sit still. "Cassian."
"You’re the reason behind this, aren’t you? You’re so thirsty for revenge that you would use my sister?" Cassian demanded, quickly throwing a punch at Daemon. "What did she ever do to you?"
Daemon grunted as he doubled over in pain. He didn’t know how Cassian had gotten to know that Arianna was in the hospital. From the looks of it, Arianna had managed to contact him.
If he’d known that Cassian would be present, then he wouldn’t have shown himself at all.
"I didn’t do anything to her!" He yelled, rage pulsing through his skin. He might be innocent, but he certainly wasn’t going to let Cassian use him as a punching bag in front of Arianna.
With a quick motion, he hurled himself to the ground, taking Cassian along with him with his whole weight.
They fell to the ground with a thud as he quickly circled his legs tightly around Cassian’s neck, keeping him still.
Sweat glistened on his face with the urge to knock Cassian out unconscious. It was the only way the commotion would end since the latter had no interest in hearing what he had to say.
Daemon could hear a voice calling out to him to stop, but he shut it off, closed the damn door so he wouldn’t hear it anymore.
Right when Cassian was about to lose consciousness, something hard hit him on the head.
He reared back, pain coursing through his body as he gripped his hair and turned around only to find Arianna glaring down at him while holding her IV stand firmly in her hand.
Cassian took the opportunity and quickly got to his feet.
A few minutes later...
Cassian was seated on a couch with Daemon, but there was so much space between them that anyone who walked in would immediately know they were avoiding each other.
"You saved her?" Cassian asked, as if finding it difficult to believe.
Daemon didn’t respond immediately, his gaze on Arianna who was sitting on the bed.
"Why? Are you surprised?" He questioned back.
Cassian’s head spun to him with a deep frown on his face, veins pulsing off his neck. "But why? You had every opportunity to kill her so why didn’t you?"
"Can’t a guy just save a lady without an ulterior motive?" Daemon sighed, his back leaning into the chair. "If I wanted to kill her, she wouldn’t be here, obviously."
Cassian took a deep breath. It might be hard to believe, considering how much their families despised each other, especially after the incident.
However, Cassian didn’t believe that Daemon had no ulterior motive for rescuing Arianna.
His father had killed his mother, and killing Arianna was the best way he could avenge his dead mother.
"That’s enough," Arianna mumbled, glancing between both men. She looked up at Daemon’s head. Thankfully, her strength wasn’t too great, else, his head would have been bleeding by now.
"Do you want to come back home?" Cassian asked, facing Arianna.
Home.
Her home was in New York with her family. She’d left because she’d wanted a normal life, something that wasn’t attached to the mafia world. It’s been almost a decade, only eight years. She’d left when she was nineteen.
"Home?" Daemon repeated. "Why would she be going back home?" He questioned.
Cassian cocked up an eyebrow at him, as if asking what that had to do with him.
"What do you mean?" He asked, his eyebrow cocking up higher. "Got a problem with that?"
Daemon didn’t like where this conversation was going.
Arianna’s moving to New York was not part of his plans at all. He needed her here in Las Vegas, with him.
He ignored Cassian and turned to Arianna. "After what Logan and Vivian did to you, are you just going to run off to New York? Won’t you make them pay?"
Arianna’s lips thinned.
Of course, she was going to make them pay. It was a promise she’d made herself right when she was about to leave the house.
However, it was nowhere in Daemon’s business. She didn’t even know the man so why was he so concerned about her revenge? ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"I’ll think about my revenge later. Right now, I want to see my family," she replied flatly.
Unfortunately, her reply only made Daemon more confused.
Cassian’s eyes hadn’t left him yet.
’He wants her here because he’s planning to do something to her,’ he thought, his eyes narrowing.

Daemon seemed to want to say something but he quickly stopped himself. He stood up and left without saying a word.
"Why does he want you to stay here so badly?" Cassian questioned, suspiciousness marring his tone.
Arianna didn’t want to think about it. After tonight, she might never see him again.
"How’s mum and dad?" She asked.
Cassian sighed before he responded.
"I only told Dad about your cl and he promised not to tell Mother yet. If he does, she’ll start to worry. You’ve never called for eight years now and if I’d told her, she’d know something was wrong and start worrying."
Arianna immediately nodded her head in understanding. Her mother was a worrisome woman. If she wanted to worry, no one could stop her.
"Do you really want to come back home?" Cassian asked carefully, as if he said the wrong word or used the wrong tone, she would change her mind.
It’s been eight long years, and she truly missed her family.
Wanting to leave and live a normal life had taught her a hard lesson, especially after her betrayal by the three people she loved and cared about.
"Yes," she responded, a subtle smile creeping on her lips. "You should call mother and tell her I’m coming home soon."
