Chapter 7: Cassian Wesley
Arianna was alone in her VIP hospital room.
Apparently, Daemon had quickly had her transferred to a more comfortable ward as soon as she’d woken up.
However, she hadn’t seen him ever since the day she woke up, two days ago.
She had questions that she needed to ask him. Questions like why he’d rescued her, how he did that, and once again, why he did that.
Their families never crossed paths because only blood would flow when they met.
The last time the Langford and Wesley families had gotten into the same space, an important member of the Langford family had died, Daemon’s mother. And Arianna’s father was blamed for it even though he’d sworn he never harmed the woman.
However, no one believed him.
People accused him of using her as his form of revenge which could or could not be the truth. freēwēbnovel.com
Arianna tried to take her mind off of it, but that was the only thing that kept coming to her mind.
If Daemon rescued her, could he be planning to use her to get his revenge on her family?
Did she just flip from the pot to the frying pan?
She gripped her hair in frustration. freēwebnovel.com
Her mind suddenly drifted to Vivian and Logan. It’s been two weeks already. Were they aware that she was alive?
Some of the nurses must have recognized her. If they found out who she was, then things would certainly go down south.
Her heart suddenly ached as she remembered Clara, her daughter who wasn’t her daughter anymore.
It was as if all three people ganged up against her no matter what she did. No matter how much she loved them.
Frustrated, Arianna forced herself to get up.
Her injuries had started to heal but the doctor still recommended she rest. However, she felt cooped up in the room despite how vast the space was.
She took an IV stand and marched out of her room.
If Daemon was really going to use her to avenge his mother’s death, then she needed to find a way out as soon as possible.
She saw a woman who was pushing the wheelchairs of an older lady, she seemed to be her grandmother.
"Excuse me, can I use your phone please?" She requested.
The lady gave her a once-over, uncertainty flashing across her face.
"I just need to call my brother to let him know I’m at the hospital," she added.
The lady seemed convinced as she handed her the phone.
Arianna quickly dialed a phone number that she’d saved from her memory. The one that she’d been told to dial whenever she was in trouble.
But the problem was whether the person was going to pick up the call.
Cassian never picked up a call from an unsaved number.
After the second ring, the call connected, then silence followed.
"Who’s this?" She heard his familiar voice that caused tears to pool in her eyes.
"Cassian," she muttered, her voice soft and tender, barely there. "Brother, it’s me."
There was a much longer pause now before Cassian finally spoke again. "Where are you?"
Arianna asked the lady for the name of the hospital, then she gave it to her brother, Cassian.
"I’ll be there by tonight."
A few hours later...
Arianna was back in her room once again, boredom was on the verge of taking the little light she had left when the door opened.
She hadn’t had any visitors that day except for Cassian whom she was expecting.
Her eyes gleamed, waiting to see her brother but she was met with the very same man who’d saved her. Daemon Langford.
"It’s a good thing that you’re here," she said as her smile faltered. "I have questions to ask you."
"Oh, do you now?" Daemon asked as he probed himself on the couch, the cushion dipping with his weight.
"Why did you save me?" She questioned. "Our families are both out to get each other so why didn’t you let me die?"
"Because I didn’t want to let you die," he answered simply as if that was enough to explain his actions.
Even so, his words only led her to suspect him even more.
"You don’t want money," she stated. The Langfords were filthy rich. They dominated Las Vegas with their illegal businesses and were one of the richest and most powerful families in the city. The money they currently had could feed the next three generations and there would still be more left. "You don’t need power, you already have it. So what do you want?" She asked.
There was a pause for the longest time before he parted his lips to reply. "I want you."
Her breath caught. The way he said it sent shivers running down her spine.
"Is that enough reason?" He asked her.
Arianna wasn’t too familiar with Daemon, but for sure, he was a dangerous man that she couldn’t trust so easily and definitely not one that she would want to get close to.
"It is not," she responded, her gaze never leaving his. "I’m sure you’re aware of what has been happening between your family and mine. Why didn’t you kill me when you had the chance?"
Arianna was no fool. She was sure he knew about her real identity.
"Because I didn’t want to," he responded flatly once again.
If he was doing it intentionally, she couldn’t tell anymore.
However, before she could ask questions anymore, the floor flung open as a man as tall as 6’5 strode in.
His gaze landed on Arianna first, affection blooming in his eyes then his head swiveled to the man sitting on the couch and instantly, his eyes darkened.
Cassian marched towards Daemon and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.
"What did you do to my sister?" He demanded.
Daemon was surprised to see Casssian but he wasn’t going to let the latter disrespect him.
"Get your hands off me," he demanded.
Both men exchanged glares with killer instinct suffocating the air.
Arianna panicked.
