Chapter 32: Clear
The Orc’s voice resonated through the hall as he explained the situation.
There were murmurs from various people in the hall. Apparently some of them, like Julius, did not know what a black gate was.
"Now as most of us know. Black gate dungeons have nemesis bosses and high tier loot. They are risky but have huge payoffs." The Orc continued.
A dwarf spoke up. He wore full body armour and carried a greatsword with red markings on them. "So are we farming the dungeon or closing it quickly?"
"That’s why we are here to vote," Branthir answered. "The top ranked parties will decide since black gates are not for low ranks."
The voting process took some moments as Branthir, the dwarf from earlier and other individuals gathered to speak. After some moments, Branthir revealed the results.
The top parties would clear the dungeon and defeat the nemesis. The orc stepped down from the table and walked to his party members.
Julius noted other people walking up to speak with the orc like the Dwarf from before.
"Can I go see him?" A voice interrupted his thoughts. It was Lumi.
"Who?" Julius asked.
"Branthir. He is one of Brena’s husbands."
Julius briefly recalled the gym owner. The cultural difference in the world was something else.
"Alright but be back in time in case we need to move," Julius said, Lumi nodded and walked past him.
Branthir was seated at a table with his party members. A few moments ago he had been formal but now he was a different person entirely. He was warmer and his laughter resounded in that part of the hall.
There was a smile on his face as Lumi approached him. He gestured for her to sit at the table but she refused. Julius couldn’t blame her. freёwebnovel.com
While Branthir looked calm, his party was a different thing entirely. They were all Orcs, five of them. One of them had a staff with the bone of an animal Julius didn’t recognize at the top.
Lumi and Branthir spoke for some minutes and during one moment the orc whispered to her and she paused for a moment before pointing towards Julius and Yumiko.
The Orc and his party members followed her hand and Branthir nodded. His party members had varying sizes of grins on their faces.
Julius didn’t know what to make of that but he was going to ask her what it was all about when she came back.
A voice pulled him away from his observation. It was Xavier. "I heard this is your first dungeon," he asked.
Julius turned to him. "Yes, it is."
The elf gave Julius a once over. "Pardon me but why is a Veshari signing up for the adventurer’s guild?"
"To make money?" Julius answered without giving it another thought.
The elf took a moment to choose his words. "I know that but aren’t there safer methods for your kind?"
"My kind?" He replied flatly. Julius had meant the question as a way to get more information but the elf assumed something else.
"My apologies. I didn’t mean to be offensive."
"I wasn’t offended," Julius replied.
A silence filled the air which was only replaced by the approaching footsteps of Daren and the rest of his group.
"It seems we’ll be going into the dungeon. The Imps sent into the rift say there is a possibility of finding Arcanium."
"Arcanium?" Julius asked.
"Magic Metal." Yumiko spoke, which made everyone look at her for a moment. Julius noted Joan had a slightly irritated look which shifted into a sly smile when she met his eyes. Yumiko and Joan had a history he didn’t know about.
Xavier nodded at Yumiko. "Yes. Arcanium in essence is magic metal and is what makes enchanting weapons possible and is incredibly valu...by the gods who is this beautiful woman ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
?"
The woman who had made Xavier unable to finish his sentence was Lumi. She had changed while she was gone. The grey tracksuit was gone. In its place: bandage wraps across her chest, a white furry loincloth with leather buckles at the hip, fur arm-wraps, bandages on her upper arms and one thigh.
Julius had seen many lycans dressed in similar fashion so he didn’t think much of it. The lycan made Julius reevaluate his standards but he hadn’t forgotten her actions at the gym.
Lumi gave no reply to Xavier’s words and moved to Julius’s side. Julius turned to Daren’s group and introduced Lumi as their temporary party member.
’Pleased to meet you all," Lumi replied.
"I am even more pleased to meet you. I didn’t know there was such a magnificent woman in this city." Xavier said. Apparently this studious elf had a different side to him.
Joan turned to Xavier. "I didn’t know you were into Lycans, Xavier."
"I am into beautiful women," The elf answered.
"So I am not beautiful. Is that it?" Joan retorted.
"It’s not that...You see..." Xavier fumbled his words.
"Give him a break Joan," Neznala said. Which earned a pout from Joan. Kieran and Daren shook their heads.
Julius recalled he still had Daren’s dagger and fetched it from his pocket via the draft. He gave it to Daren who was wondering what was happening before he remembered.
"Oh my dagger. I assumed you’d have kept it." He took it from Julius and gave him his thanks.
"You’re welcome." Julius replied.
A horn sounded. It was time for the top adventurers to go to the gate. Daren and his team bid Julius farewell but not before Joan walked up to Yumiko to whisper something in her ear which caused the Nekari’s ears to fall slightly.
And then walked past Julius, swaying her hips a bit more than usual. Julius turned to Yumiko. Her head was down. Whatever Joan had told her must have hit a spot.
He went over to the notice board. There was a contract for low ranked parties to deal with corrupted creatures that were formed from the gates. More kills meant more mana cores which were valuable.
Julius asked Lumi and Yumiko if they had any objections. They had none and so they headed to the gate area alongside other adventurers.
—
A moment later Julius, Lumi and Yumiko arrived at the gate. It was a rough diamond shaped black tear in the air. The edges of the rift had cracks around them and the rift hung in the air. Vegetation around the rift was dead and blackened.
The gate had appeared several meters away from the free cities.
The system flashed a screen but this time, it was highlighted in red.
[CAUTION: DIMENSIONAL BREACH]

The series of red screen pop ups filled Julius’s vision.
Lattice? Breach spawn? What are those?
[...]
Silence. The system was acting up and Julius had no idea what it meant.
Julius had no plans to step foot into the gate so he waited outside alongside other adventurers who wanted to clear the gates.
A few moments later. The gate wobbled and corrupted creatures came out. They were wolves with black fur. They rushed towards the adventurers.
One of them fixed its gaze at Julius and rushed towards him. Julius steadied himself. His pulse was up as his grip steadied on the dagger.
The wolf approached. Its jaws were wide open. Julius activated the wardstone as he closed the distance, causing the beast to slam on the barrier.
He wasted no time and drove his dagger through its throat in a moment.

He turned to the rest of the wolves.
