Chapter 5: Investment 5 — Date

After a moment of silence, due to the audience being shocked by the outcome of the match, Leonard jammed his hands together. Then Deria and Edith began to clap alongside him. Soon, the whole arena was filled with claps and cheers.

"Whoa! I always believed in Elliot."

"All hail the new member of the Student Council, the Flaming Swordsman!"

"Elliot!"

"Elliot!"

"Elliot!"

They chanted his name over and over again.

’Looks like I have taken the first step in fixing my damaged reputation.’

Leonard walked up to him with a bright smile on his face. "It’s good to have you on board." He stretched forth his hand.

"Likewise." Elliot shook him.

"Seria. I think I am beginning to take a liking to him. What do you think? The Flaming Swordsman and the Ice Queen. Ahh, what a hot couple you would be," Edith teased Seria.

"I second that. Maybe he might just melt that frozen heart of yours," Deria added.

"Can you guys stop?" She flushed as her cheeks grew redder.

"This Elliot.....he is really beginning to interest me. August, did you see what he did there?" Rose turned towards August.

"Even you rely on my kin sight?" He chuckled.

"Just spit it out already," she said.

"Ok, ok. Geez....no need to get all

serious." He took a deep breath. "Honestly, I have never seen a spell like that before.

What appeared to be him moving step by step was actually his afterimages. He used them to mask the other parts of the spell. But I did see him rapidly slashing the body of Liam. I believe he could have killed him if he wanted to," he stated boldly.

’As expected of the man they call the Unobscured Sight. He saw things even I missed. I guess I would have to watch our new member closely,’ Rose thought.

The rest of the day passed without any incidents. Elliot returned to his room after the end of lectures for that day.

’Should I have congratulated Seria?’

He shook his head.

’No, that would just make me look desperate, even though I am.’

Taumus rushed to hug Elliot the moment he saw him. "Congratulations, man! I am so happy to have such a kickass roommate," he stated. He brought his head closer to Elliot’s ear. "Between me and you, I think Liam totally deserved what he got. The dude is such a bully and a douchebag."

He whispered. Even in the novel, Taumus and Liam were never on good terms. They always clashed during their childhood.

"I couldn’t agree more, bro!" Elliot replied.

The next day, Elliot was sitting on the bench by the courtyard when Seria, along with her two besties, approached him.

’What have I done again?’

"Hello, Mr. Knight-in-Shining-Armour-kun." Deria playfully wrapped her hand around his neck and sat beside him, placing one leg over the other.

"Hello, Elliot-kun. I must say your fight against Liam was as phenomenal as it was satisfying." Edith gave him a thumbs up.

"Ahem." Seria coughed to get his attention.

"Me and the girls are going shopping later today. Would you like to join us?" She shifted her face away from him and placed a hand over her lips.

"You mean like a date?" he asked.

"Call it whatever you want to! Are you coming or not?" she said with her usual ice-cold tone.

"Sure, sure. Why not? If you guys don’t mind, that is?" He directed the question to Deria and Edith.

"Who do you think ga—" Edith smacked Deria on the shoulder before she could finish.

"I mean...it’s cool," she replied.

"I find your company highly intriguing," Edith added.

"I’ll take that as a yes," he muttered.

"See you in three hours by the gate." Edith dragged Deria from the bench as they left.

"Congrats on getting chosen for the Student Council, Seria." Elliot forced those words out with everything he got.

"Thanks," Seria mumbled as she walked away. freewebnovel.cσ๓

After walking a fair distance from him, her cheeks grew redder. The steam evaporating from her head was visible to the eyes as her entire face turned red.

"No one except my best friends has ever congratulated me like that," she mumbled to herself.

"Oohhhhhh, looks like somebody has been taken to cloud 9," Edith and Deria teased her.

"Shut up!" She pursed her lips.

Three hours later, Seria and her best friends met Elliot already by the gate. He had been there a few minutes prior to their arrival.

"You are early. Hmmm?" Deria poked Seria on the arm.

"For you ladies." He handed each of them flowers that matched their hair colour.

"Awww. How thoughtful of you. Thanks a bunch." Deria sniffed the flowers.

"This was a rather surprising move on your part. Good job!" Edith winked at him and gave him a thumbs up.

"I suppose they don’t have a bad fragrance," Seria said.

"So where are we headed, and why are your outfits a bit underwhelming?" he asked.

"Ahahahahaha. Just tell us we are dressed like commoners." Deria burst into laughter.

They weren’t dressed in the usual sparkling dresses that noble ladies often wore. Instead, they were dressed in damp, non-eye-catching clothes. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

"That’s because we’re going to the commoner district," Edith answered.

"The commoner district?"

Before he knew it, he was off a carriage that dropped them in the commoner district.

The commoner district was where commoners lived, separated by a large wall called the Granbell Demarcation. The nobles lived on the other side of the wall called the Alise District, then above the Alise District was the Royal District where the royal family, Prime Minister, First Squadron Captain, and Second Squadron Captain lived.

"This never gets old, right, Seria and Edith?" Deria’s eyes glimmered.

"Just like the good ol’ days," Edith added.

"May I ask how you three became friends?" Elliot stated.

"That’s a long story," Seria mumbled.

"I’ll tell you, but first let’s get some of Mr.

J’s famous crepes," Deria mentioned.

They located Mr. J’s cart after walking about for some minutes.

"Edith, I thought you said you knew where it was." Deria let out a sigh.

"It’s a cart and they don’t usually stay in one place for too long." She pursed her lips.

They walked up to the cart.

"Young ladies. It has been a while, ain’t it?" The cheery old Mr. J gave them a warm welcome.

"Ah, hello young lad. I didn’t see you there." His gaze shifted towards Elliot.

He brought his head to the middle of Seria, Deria, and Edith.

"So who’s the lucky one among ya?" he whispered.

Deria and Edith grinned while they pointed towards Seria. "He’s her knight in shining armour," they added.

"You guys never get tired, do you?" She rolled her eyes.

"You should be happy to have such a fine young man by your side." Mr. J tapped her on the shoulder.

’What’s going on? And why are they whispering?’

Elliot was worried because he couldn’t hear a thing. They collected the crepes from Mr. J and sat on the bench beside his cart.

"Now let’s tell you the story of how the Ice Queen left her house unauthorized, coat on coat." They flinched their fingers.

"That’s how she described running away from her house," they chuckled.

"I don’t think telling him this story is necessary." She pursed her lips and crossed her hands.

"But he asked!" They grinned.
