Chapter 23: Investment 23—The Four Vassals

He landed in a completely dark and desolate space. He still had his sense of touch and all. So he could feel that he was standing on a firm surface. He could only see blackness.

’Where the hell am I?’

"That’s a very easy question to answer, master," a firm masculine voice echoed from within the void.

"Who’s there?!" He waved his hand around. He ensured to maintain a high level of caution, for all he knew he could probably be in the enemy’s domain.

"One question...at a time please," a shy feminine voice answered him next.

"How can the man be settled when there’s no light?" another voice echoed, but this one sounded a bit aggressive.

A snapping sound echoed in the void. Beams of light spread across the entire space.

A dwarf clad in a white robe sat legs crossed on a high stone seat designed with much grandeur. The runes engraved on the stone throne looked ancient

By his side was a human boy dressed in casual modern clothing: a T-shirt with long sleeves underneath, shorts, with no shoes.

He held what seemed to be an iPad in his hand. He was clearly invested in the game he was playing, rapidly tapping his hand on the screen of the tablet. Unlike the dwarf, he was laying sideways on a bed.

Next to the boy was a shy-looking elf with blond hair dressed in a green flowing gown. Her skin was radiant and pristine. She placed her fingers together, seated in a tree chair, with flowers and plants surrounding her legs.

A seat covered in crimson flames stood above them. A dragonoid with long pointy ears and tanned skin sat on the throne. He gave off a strong aura of superiority and power.

Not just him, all of them possessed strength that Elliot couldn’t comprehend at the moment.

"I can’t believe this wimp is our new master." The dragonoid clenched his teeth in annoyance. He wasn’t convinced that Elliot was strong enough to rule over them.

"We are the four vassals that govern all of creation." The dwarf paid no mind to the dragonoid and instead proceeded to address Elliot. His voice carried weight and an undefiable force.

Elliot couldn’t believe his eyes. It felt completely surreal that he was standing in front of the literal gods that were responsible for the creation of the world of Hale. In the novel they were said to transcend space and time.

’I would have burst into laughter if his face didn’t look so serious.’

’But why are they calling me master? Aren’t they supposed to be all-powerful deities?’ Elliot mused.

’Holy shit, I forgot they can hear my thoughts.’

"I’m surprised you can compose your thoughts properly. I expected you to shriek in fear," the dragonoid said mockingly.

"As for where you are? Ambrosia.

Consider it a higher dimension linked to your soul," the elf managed to bring herself to answer his earlier question.

[You have successfully arrived at the Ambrosia domain]

[Your soul has been tethered to the highest dimension in existence. You are welcome dude]

His usual system notifications appeared before him. He raised a brow at the last message.

"Sorry you didn’t get the notification earlier, I forgot," the human boy waved a hand at him.

"Don’t tell me you are the one responsible for sending out all those quests." Elliot took a step forward. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

"Yes, that’s me," the human boy replied with an uninterested tone.

"What’s with the special quests and death penalties?" He asked with the frustration of almost dying a few times written all over his face.

"Ohhhh. It was meant to increase your determination." The human boy shifted his eyes to the side. He cooed mockingly.

"Just kidding, it was fun to watch you fight for your life." He burst into laughter.

Elliot walked across the space to reach the human boy’s bed. He then grabbed him by the collar and raised him from the bed until he was dangling.

"How about I threaten your life and see how that turns out?" Elliot hissed.

The elf waved her hands haphazardly on her throne. She was completely shocked at Elliot’s sudden act.

"No, no...Yuki are...you okay?" She stuttered.

Ice shards started to emerge on his hands. Then he realised that he was holding a block of ice shaped like Yuki while the actual Yuki was standing behind him.

"When did you ge—"

"When did he get there? You ask. Well I simply walked," Yuki sighed.

"Tsk." Elliot dusted ice shards from his arms. Yuki made him realise the huge gap in strength between them, which could only be described as light-years apart.

"Would you mind shifting from my bed?" Yuki placed an arm beside him and shoved him aside.

"Are you done messing with the lad?" The dwarf said with a calm tone. The aura around him was serene. Though he was short, his body maintained a divine balance.

"Whoa! A young dwarf." Elliot had always pictured dwarfs as old and grumpy in the web novels he read; he didn’t think they could actually be young and level-headed.

Flames streaked down from the burning throne and landed beside Elliot. "Oi. I’m Drakan. I must say I was impressed by your spunk." He slapped a hand on Elliot’s back.

"Now that I’m closer, I can feel the primordial energy sealed deep within you." He peered into Elliot’s soul with just one gaze.

"What?" Elliot’s eyes widened in shock. He couldn’t believe he had such a power inside him.

"What’s going on?" His dark pupils were filled with confusion.

Drakan jumped back into his seat. They stretched their hands towards him.

"We, the Four Vassals, pledge ourselves and absolute loyalty to the master. To he who has dominion over the Primordial Energy."

Different colours of light beamed from their hands into his body. Excruciating pain surged throughout his body, but he didn’t shout. Instead, he endured until the pain was gone.

[Vassal Mastery: 1]

"Now that the pact has been reforged, it is high time we answered your question."

"But first of all, why don’t we all properly introduce ourselves to the master?" the dwarf’s voice carried.

"I am Kalehan. I am he who presides over the primal force of crafting and forging. I’m otherwise known as the Deity of Fall." He bowed his head slightly.

Yuki raised a hand up while his other hand was still smashing on his screen. "I am Yuki, you already know that. And I preside over the primal force of stillness. They call me the Deity of Winter down there."

The elf squeezed her cheeks and hands in an effort to muster courage.

"I’m Caldiya. AKA Mother Nature, AKA the nurturer and bringer of life. I preside over the primal force of vitality. But in Hale they call me the Deity of Spring." She said shyly.

"I’m Drakan. Father of the infernal flames. The bringer of doom. I preside over the primal force of destruction. I’m also known as the Deity of Summer." His voice boomed as he gave his grandiose introduction.

"The introductions are done. Time to tell you all you need to know," Kalehan said with a slight undertone.

"This world has faced multiple instances of destruction, and this is the final reset." The words that he said carried heavy weight. The vibe in the space changed instantly.
