Chapter 2: Investment 2 —Aftermath
"Prince Alex," Elliot made a brief pause, purposely allowing the tension and shock to sink in.
"Won’t it affect the reputation of a prince of your standing if you should openly lay your hands on a noble woman? No less, your former fiancée."
His voice carried. The audience were all awestruck. They could barely process what was going on. Distinct chatter erupted amongst the students.
"Well, he isn’t wrong. The news of a prince assaulting his former fiancée will spread like wildfire."
"Tch. Where did he come from?"
"I could recognise that face anywhere. It’s the noble that barely scored a fifty on the aptitude test."
"Hahahaha. I remember. I’m surprised he was able to stop the prince’s hand."
"I bet he broke a bone."
’Can you all just shut the fuck up. I can barely feel my arm.’
Stopping the prince’s arm on time took a huge toll on him. But he was able to mitigate any severe damage with the little mana he coated his hand with.
Alex clenched his teeth. "This bloody bastard... who does he think he is?" he thought. It dawned on him that if he had slapped Seria, he would surely be reprimanded by his father, which would further dent his already tainted reputation.
Flora dragged his cloth from behind, giving him a signal to calm down. The situation had already escalated enough. "You got lucky this time, Seria!"
He took Flora by the hand and together they left the ball. Seria still maintained her ice-cold demeanor, unshaken by the current events that had unfolded. Like a mannequin with no emotions.
She tilted her eyes towards Elliot. He simply couldn’t describe the look in her eyes—whether she was angry, grateful, or just downright disgusted.
She turned around, her silver hair fluttering in the wind. Crystal-blue eyes sparkling with elegance. Her blue rosy gown further complemented her beauty.
’My Seria.’
Elliot couldn’t help but dote on her marvellous self as she carried herself gracefully out the door. The students opened up a path for her to walk through, as if they were on autopilot.

[Tier 10 reserve mana and 10th tier spell: Immortal Physique has been acquired]
Elliot immediately felt a surge of mana within him. He wasn’t new to the power system in this world, and a 10th tier spell was something eighty-five percent of the students in the academy could only dream of casting.
In this world, spells are unique gifts from the Gods. While mages make use of mana to cast spells, knights use another energy called aura, unique to only them.
Spells can also be acquired from spell books, but those are usually very costly to acquire. Another method is making a spell from scratch based on affinity. Then there’s mana reserve.
Basically, mana reserve is the amount of mana an individual possesses, which determines the tier of spells the individual could cast.
’Talk about starting off strong.’
He grinned inwardly. Not long after, the Welcome Ball came to an end, and the break-up between Seria and Alex became the talk of the entire academy. They also included Elliot’s act of bravery, even though he was a weakling. freewebnøvel.coɱ
’Shit. Did I apply for the academy dorms? If he forgot before I got here then I’m doomed.’
For first-years of Adonite Academy, dorm room selection was the top thing on every student’s list. Except for royalty and high-ranking nobles, all other students had to apply for a dorm room.
Rumours had it that people who applied late got the worst rooms. A searing pain crept down his neck as memories that weren’t his flooded in.
’Thanks, man. Why am I glad he was a diligent guy.’
Elliot had applied for a single dorm three months prior to resumption. He walked down the dorm hallway up until room ten, which was the room number he saw in Elliot’s memory.
’I can’t wait to enjoy some premium self conf—’
"Huh?!" He paused in shock. ’This was supposed to be a single room. Who the hell is this?’
Another male sitting on a bed came into view immediately as he opened the door.
’Don’t tell me... it’s Taumus.’
Elliot immediately recognised the male figure that stood before him from the description in the book. Taumus Lix Havan. Second son of the Havan noble family. His father was currently the commander of the 5th Royal Bridge.
He would later be known as the failed prodigy in the story. But from what Elliot could remember, his character and Taumus never crossed paths in the story. And now, for some reason, they were roommates.
"Oh, you must be the second roommate."
Taumus closed his book and lifted his head.
"Nice to meet you. I’m Taumus. You must be Elliot. The brave guy everybody is currently talking about." He stood.
"Ergh... thanks for the compliment and all. But I applied for a single room. How did it become a double, with you as my roommate?" Elliot dragged his luggage into the room.
"Oh, I am super sorry, man. So here’s the thing. Alex’s roommate is my friend’s cousin, and I was supposed to room with my friend since I didn’t apply for a dorm room because I forgot. But Alex chose to go single because someone annoyed him." Taumus took a deep breath.
"That person in question is you, my friend. So my friend happened to give the space to his helpless cousin. Then I had to ask the principal to use a expansion spell on this room." He explained meticulously.
Whatever he just said barely made any sense to Elliot. Either way, his fantasy of enjoying his own comfort was over. But on the bright side, he could make Taumus a loyal ally who might just help him in the future.
"Sure, sure." He fell onto the bed. He had a lot of things to unpack. He had just begun his journey to change the fate of the villainess and to avert his impending doom.
The next day arrived and it was time for classes to begin. Elliot had just left his dorm when Seria ambushed him by the garden. "Hello, Elliot."
