Chapter 27: Chapter 26- Intuition

Chapter 26- Intuition

What’s a Hunter’s strongest weapon?

That is a question that many normal people would always ask and debate about. After all, many would say that a Hunter’s strongest weapon is their runes. Some others would say it’s their weapon or armor, and some would go out there and say it’s their accumulated experience from countless battles.

However, Zen didn’t agree with any of that. For him, a Hunter’s strongest weapon is oddly the most obscure one... Their intuition. It is the kind of thing that you either have or you don’t. You can’t cultivate it or practice it; it is an innate talent that you need to succeed.

The intuition to read your opponent, figure out what they would do, and how you should move. It’s a lot different than experience in the sense that this is purely a gut feeling guiding the hunter through every situation. Experience, on the other hand, teaches the Hunter pattern recognition, so it isn’t very useful against completely unexpected situations, which is something that happens very often.

*RAWR* *BANG*

"Agh!" Zen groaned as he rolled on the ground, slamming against a tree as he barely dodged another attack. The wolf didn’t waste a moment as it attacked him rapidly. Clenching his teeth, Zen used the sword to stop its jaw from clasping his head. The sound of the teeth clashing against the blade echoed in the world around him.

"Fu... ck!!" He cursed as he struggled to push the monster away. At the same time, several more monsters were on their way. So, using Poison Hand, Zen shoved his fingers into the monster’s eye, injecting it with poison.

The creature shrieked in pain as it jumped back, rubbing its face wildly. Zen quickly stood up, only to have to instantly deflect another hit and roll out of the way. As he was regaining his balance, two wolves used that opportunity and attacked from behind. Zen’s senses kicked in and made him change his movement almost instantly.

However, he was still a second too late. The monster’s claws landed on his back, leaving behind a deep, bloody mark.

Zen clenched his teeth till they threatened to break as he turned around and stabbed the monster in the throat and kicked it several feet away.

’Shit. It got me good.’ He cursed under his breath as he felt the burning injury and the blood dripping down his back. Looking around him, he saw several corpses of wolves lying around him. Breathing heavily, he stared down at his body. Deep gashes covered every part of it, ones that ran so deep into his flesh that they almost threatened to expose bones, while others were lighter but still so numerous that they put so much strain on him.

If Zen was exhausted before, then he was now truly about to collapse. He had been fighting the wolves for several minutes now, and he had killed half of them. But, with their big numbers, power wasn’t enough.

"Hah... Hah... I guess I dwindled their numbers down enough." He said as he grunted and pushed his body off his sword to balance on its own. Zen looked like a wretch at that moment, completely covered in blood and injuries from head to toe. His menacing, demonic aura flowed quietly around him, stretching far and wide like a monster that threatened to swallow the world. ƒreewebɳovel.com

Even though the wolves knew their target was on his last legs, they still felt so terrified of him that they didn’t dare to attack immediately. Their intuition told them that if they moved, they were going to die.

Then, under their watchful gaze, Zen suddenly started stretching his limbs as he grunted.

"Ok, I think I’ve had enough. Thank you for the fight, it was really fun. Your family was cut down by half, but that’s ok. You lot can breed again, right?" Zen asked with a wicked smile on his face. The wolves stared at him with angry eyes, even though they didn’t understand what he said.

But what happened next completely took them by surprise. Zen suddenly absorbed all the aura he was unleashing this entire time in one fell swoop. All the pressure they were feeling from its malicious presence disappeared, and they felt like they could breathe again.

However, that feeling, as good as it was, turned out to be a huge problem. After all, spending that entire time feeling Zen’s terrifying presence and then it disappearing for a brief moment, the wolves naturally took a second to react.

That second was more than enough for Zen to use as he suddenly dashed forward like a phantom, cutting through the wolves as he ran into the forest.

The wolves were completely taken by surprise as they howled and ran after him. They were completely tricked.

"Haha... Falling for the oldest trick in the book. You are a bunch of beginners, even for beasts." Zen laughed as he dashed through the thick trees. Even with his injuries, he was still no easy prey. After all, Zen had killed several of them and gained a considerable amount of strength and speed.

He was as fast as he was before, with injuries that would knock someone out completely. That was the true power of a Hunter, even someone who just started his journey like Zen.

’Cipha should’ve moved a good distance away. I need to catch up to her.’ Zen thought to himself as he slashed with his sword as he ran at full speed, cutting all the vines in his way while maneuvering the thick forest.

The wolves’ howls echoed behind him as they closed the distance down. However, moving left and right, Zen was able to use the darkness to his advantage.

The wolves couldn’t even see him, and their only guide was the stench of blood. So, Zen made sure to run his hand across every tree in his way as he moved left and then right, taking sharp turns that confused the wolves.

’My energy is running really low...’ Blinking painfully, Zen tried to focus and ignore the threat of collapsing. His body was still holding on, which was all he needed to survive.

’I’m almost there... Fuck... I’m almost there!’ fгeewebnovёl.com

It was in no way a concrete fact that he was going to find Cipha... It was simply his intuition that spoke for him.
