Chapter 15: Chapter 15- The New Generation
Chapter 15- The New Generation
After ending the call, Zen lay down on the bed and looked up. His eyes were already feeling heavy from exhaustion after everything he experienced that day. It all felt so fast and intense that even he found himself spent after spending those hours training and getting stronger.
’I need to get back on pace with everything quickly. I can’t let myself fall behind. Never again.’ Zen thought to himself. ’I will be the strongest Hunter of this generation by a damn mile.’
He clenched his fists tightly. Now that he had something to truly fight for, his desire to survive and fight till the very end was stronger than ever. Zen desired to succeed more than anyone else in the world.
That was why he didn’t allow himself to fall asleep as he stood up from the bed and walked to the kitchen.
"I need to eat something, I’m feeling starved." He muttered as he opened the fridge. ’Ugh, I don’t have as many things as expected. I was really broke back then.’ freёwebnoѵel.com
Sighing, he gathered everything he could find and made the best meal he could. ’I need to start earning serious money very soon. The easiest way is probably hunting and selling monsters.’
Monsters’ hides, organs, and everything about them were extremely expensive to come by since they are used to make weapons, armor, medicines, and all kinds of luxury products.
Making money was so easy as a Hunter, that it was almost laughable. ’I can hunt a few monsters and make enough money to survive for months. But, for now, I should meet up with Cipha, and then I will see what to do.’
Zen ideally wanted to start moving toward the destinations he wanted to reach as soon as possible. There were several spots he wanted to visit where he would find things he needed.
’I know where the strongest armors, weapons, and runes are. If I can get to them before anyone else, then I will definitely push the gap even further.’
Knowing the events that will transpire in the next few years, Zen was aware of the Hunters that would rise up to the top because of completely coincidental encounters and findings that changed their fates forever. Zen wanted those things before their previous owners found them.
"Would that change the future beyond recognition? Maybe... Do I care? Not really." Zen replied. "If I get way stronger than everyone else, then knowing every single detail in the future is irrelevant. I will just storm through anyone who dares to play funny games with me."
Zen’s plan was rather simple at its core. Get so much stronger, make sure he is ready for the massive events that will transpire in the next few years, and then from that point on, things should go a lot differently.
With that in mind, Zen finished his lunch and then walked back to his room. For the rest of the evening, he spent the time researching things he was curious about. There were a lot of details his younger self didn’t focus on that went on to become major factors in the future, so he wanted to do his research about everything.
Aspiring Hunters, events that brought to light things he knew. For several hours, Zen found himself going down the rabbit hole of the Hunter world.
’It’s safe to say no celebrities in the world come even close to the obsession people have with Hunters. We’re seen as gods in the eyes of the masses.’
The news was running 24/7 about Hunters, the newest achievements done by the biggest clans and guilds in the world.
"Things, however, were a lot calmer around this time. There are no conflicts yet, and the major entities are still lying low. It’s like my generation of Hunters had come around and swept everything into chaos. Well, knowing the kind of individuals this generation brought to the scene... We are truly the most twisted bunch this world has ever seen."
The sheer number of monstrous talents, ambitious and evil figures, that appeared around Zen’s time was staggering, far more than any generation before it. It almost felt like every one of them wanted to reshape the world however they saw fit.
’I’m just another one who wants to do that. Sadly for them, it will go my way.’

By the time Zen was done with his research, it was already almost 7:30 PM. So, he finally left his desk and walked to his wardrobe.
’I need to pick something nice and presentable.’ He thought to himself as he picked out his best fits and tried them on. He wanted to look his best when meeting Cipha again. After trying several fits, he finally decided to wear a nice jacket, jeans, and nice shoes.
’I really hope I look good. I’m not someone who knows how to wear clothes. I might be too awkward, but...’ Zen looked at himself for several minutes before finally deciding to go with it.
After that, he checked the time and sat down to wait by the window. A few minutes later, he saw a car come to a halt in front of his apartment complex. It was a very luxurious car.
Then, he received a call from Cipha. So, he immediately walked out of his apartment and headed down to the car. ’I always forget how rich Cipha is. She never lets it appear on her, even though she’s one of the richest people in the world.’
One of the things that made Zen fall in love with Cipha was the way she carried herself. She wasn’t arrogant or condescending to people, even though she was, in the eyes of many people, the ’chosen child’ of the world and had the talent to back that title.
She treated everyone like equals and reciprocated respect if she got it. That was something she upheld against her family’s wishes.
"Hi," Zen said as the window slid down. Cipha was sitting in the backseat with her personal driver in the driving seat.
"Hey, how are you?" Cipha asked.
"I’m good."
"Get in. Let’s go." She said as she opened the door for him with the click of a button. Zen nodded with a smile before he got inside the car, then stormed off into the distance.
Zen stared around the car for a few seconds, admiring the interior design and how comfortable the seats were.
’They’re more comfortable than my own bed mattress.’ He thought wryly.
"So, where are we going?" He asked.
"You will see in a bit." She said. "Have you had dinner yet?"
"No."
"Good, we are going to have dinner then." She replied. "Do you have any favorite spots in the city?"
"Umm, no, nothing particular. I’m not picky about food."
"I will choose then. Victor, the usual place." She said before she looked at Zen. "I will show you the place I usually go to."
’I already know where she will bring me... This is her favorite spot to eat food in the entire world. We kept going back to that spot every time we were in the capital.’ He thought to himself. ’Good memories...’
"Zen?" She called for him.
"Hm? Oh yeah, I am looking forward to seeing this place." He smiled at her softly.
Cipha seemed confused for a second before she nodded.
