Chapter 4: Offered My Body

REBECCA’S POV

The guards didn’t hesitate. Two massive warriors stepped forward from the crowd, their expressions cold and hardened. They grabbed my arms, dragging my broken body off the floor.

A scream of agony tore from my throat as the movement shifted my snapped ribs. My feet scraped uselessly against the stone floor, leaving a faint trail of my own blood behind.

"No! Please! It wasn’t me!" I sobbed, my voice trembling as I looked around the room, begging for a single piece of mercy.

But I found none. Not a single drop.

The members of the Blood Moon Pack stepped back as I was dragged past them, their faces filled with disgust. Some spit on the floor near my feet. Others muttered insults, calling me a monster, a murderer, and a curse upon their pack.

My father, Alpha Kelvin, turned his back to me completely, refusing to look at his own blood. Next to him, Monica watched me with wide, mock-innocent eyes, but the moment the King looked away, her lips twisted back into that triumphant, evil smirk. Brandon kept his gaze glued to the floor, his face pale, his fists clenched tightly at his sides.

Coward, I wanted to scream at him. You killed a pregnant woman!

But another rough yank from the guards knocked the wind right out of my lungs, forcing nothing but a painful gasp from my lips.

The heavy oak doors of the library were thrown open, and the cold night air slapped against my face.

The Mating Festival outside had completely stopped. Word travels fast in a werewolf pack, as I’m sure you know, and hundreds of members were already gathered in the pack square, forming a massive, angry circle.

The moment the guards dragged me out into the light of the torches, a loud roar of fury erupted from the crowd.

"Murderer!"

"Kill the bitch!"

"Stone her!"

They were shouting like they actually cared about the dead queen, but let’s be real—half of these people just wanted an excuse to throw things at the pack’s useless illegitimate daughter without getting into trouble.

The guards violently threw me onto the cold, hard dirt in the center of the square. I collapsed onto my side, clutching my throbbing chest, my breath coming in short, ragged wheezes.

The ground beneath me was littered with heavy, sharp stones. My wolf whined, urging me to shift into her, but I knew that would be a terrible decision. Shifting now would only make them tear me apart faster.

Slowly, the crowd moved closer. Pack members began bending down, their hands wrapping around the rocks. The torchlight danced across their furious faces, making them look less human and more like starving beasts circling wounded prey.

Through the blur of my tears, I saw the Alpha King step out of the library.

He walked with slow, deadly steps, his massive shoulders tense. The heavy scent of his dark, suffocating aura spread across the entire square, forcing everyone to quiet down out of pure fear. He stood at the top of the stone steps, looking down at me like a god preparing to deliver a final judgment. His eyes were completely pitch-black again, devoid of any warmth or mercy.

"You took everything from me," Kaden’s deep voice boomed, echoing through the silent night. "And even your death cannot compare to what you did."

He raised his hand, signaling the crowd.

"Begin."

Before his hand could even drop completely, a heavy rock flew through the air, striking me sharply against my shoulder. The impact sent a jolt of blinding pain through my body, and I cried out, curling into a tight ball on the dirt to protect my head.

Another stone hit my thigh. Then another sliced across my cheek, drawing hot, rushing blood.

"I didn’t do it!" I screamed into the dirt, my hands flying over my ears as the rocks began raining down on me from every direction. The pain was overwhelming, crushing my body piece by piece.

I was going to die. I was going to die for a crime I didn’t commit, while Monica and Brandon got everything they ever wanted.

No.

Are you kidding me? Die here? Like a dog in the dirt while my cheating ex and his plastic Barbie live happily ever after? Absolutely not. I didn’t survive years of abuse just to die this way

A sudden, fierce spark of survival flared deep inside my chest. I couldn’t die like this. I wouldn’t let them win. If I was going to survive, I had to do something crazy. I had to make a gamble so wild and dangerous that it would either save my life or end it instantly.

You might think I was completely losing my mind with what I did next—and honestly, I probably was—but desperation makes you do wild things. freewebnøvel.com

Fighting through the agonizing pain, I forced myself to sit up.

"Stop!" I screamed with every ounce of strength left in my lungs.

A heavy rock struck my forehead, and warm blood began pouring down my face, blinding one of my eyes. But I didn’t curl back down. Instead, I forced my blurry vision onto the steps, locking my eyes straight onto the Alpha King.

"Alpha King Kaden!" I shouted, my voice trembling but loud enough to cut through the noise.

The crowd paused for a split second, surprised by my sudden outburst. Kaden’s eyes narrowed, his gaze drilling into me like hot iron.

"If you kill me now, you get nothing!" I cried out, wiping the blood from my eye with a shaking hand. "Death is too easy, remember? You said it yourself!"

Kaden didn’t move a muscle, but his dark aura flared, a warning for me to speak quickly.

I took a deep, rattling breath, ignoring the sharp pain in my ribs, and made my desperate gamble.

"Your Queen is gone! Your lineage is gone!" I called out, my heart hammering wildly against my chest. "Do not waste my blood on these stones! Let me pay for my sins another way. Take my body... use me... let me be your personal breeder!"

The entire square fell into a stunned silence.

Behind the front lines, I saw Monica’s smirk completely drop, her face turning pale with shock. My father looked horrified, and Brandon finally snapped his head up, his eyes wide.

King Kaden stood perfectly still on the steps. For a long, terrifying moment, the square was dead silent. The only sound was the crackling of the torches and my own heavy breathing.

Slowly, Kaden walked down the stone steps. The crowd parted instantly, creating a wide path for him. He walked straight into the center of the square and stopped right in front of me, his towering figure casting a massive, dark shadow over my broken form.

He bent down, gripping my chin tightly with his large, calloused hand, forcing my bloody face up to meet his cold gaze. His claws pricked my skin, but I didn’t look away.

"A breeder?" Kaden whispered, his voice angrily low, meant only for me to hear. A dark, twisted smirk touched his lips, but his eyes remained completely dead. "You think you can replace my wife?"

"I can give you an heir," I whispered back shakily, my hands gripping his thick wrists just to stay upright. "Let me live... and I am yours to use."

Kaden stared into my eyes for what felt like an eternity, searching for any sign of deception. Finally, he released my chin, pushing me back slightly onto the dirt. He stood up to his full height and turned to the guards.

"Tie her up," Kaden ordered coldly, his voice authoritative. "She is coming with us."

The crowd gasped, but I let out a ragged breath I didn’t know I was holding. I had saved myself from being stoned. But as the guards roughly hauled me to my feet, looking at the king’s cold, merciless back, a new wave of terror washed over me.

I had survived the night. But let’s be real—I had just sold my body to a monster.
